DS has been in Montessori environments since he was 2. He is currently in Kindergarten at his Montessori school, but there is no way we can afford to keep him there for elementary.

I know some kids have a difficult transition to public school. As a 9th grade teacher, many of the kids have adapted (they feed into our school by 7th grade at the latest) by the time I see them, but I hear that it can be a rough transition.

Any ideas for helping a kindergartener get ready for his first year in public school next year? He has never really taken to cursive, so I am not too terribly worried about the writing. I guess I am more worried about the idea of losing the ability to choose work and to move around the classroom.

Thanks!
