Oh, and I'm also Veggie for about 10 years. And so is my husband (for over 20 years) and so is dd.

Try seaweed! Kombu is great in soups. And you can get shreaded seaweed to eat in pasta sauce (you can even make it yourself...I know, wheelchair, but it just will involve having someone help move things down to your level a bit. You might not be able to see what's in the pot...but you can still do it!) And make sure to write all of these daily struggles down. They will be useful in your college essays!!!

My godfather is a nuclear physicist. He worked a lot with my dad designing submarines. Cool work if you can get.

So ? Didja get to the superintendent of your schools ? What did s/he say ?

I have no idea what your degree is in. What I want a degree is nuclear physics. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a community college that has a fission reactor or particle accelerator. It's getting off topic though, we're not arguing my education or my diet.
Just wanted to chime into say that my brother graduated from MIT and he went to a Jr. College first to do all of his pre-req's and stuff. Saves a lot of money for those who aren't going to get full rides right out of high school. He went on to get a PhD, too. Don't bag on Jr. Colleges, they definitely have a good purpose and many people with PhD's who attended Ivy league schools started out at them.

And I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a first- or second-year student in the sciences doing active work with either.

Prerequisites. You don't walk into a top-tier school and say, "This is what I want to do, and you should let me do it now, because I'm so brilliant." Most majors in most schools are competitive for entry. I attended the top-ranked school in the country for my major, and I had two full years of prerequisites first before applying to my program.

Maybe arrogance works well for physics majors, but it doesn't go over all that well with most mere humans, and that's something you may want to consider when making your case (not "demanding") to your district.

This may help you:

R277-419.4 Membership

C. Minimum criteria for homebound/hospitalized services

(1) A student requiring homebound or hospitalized teacher services shall receive a minimum of two contact hours of instruction per week to qualify for full membership in the regular program.
(2) A district shall provide the minimum of two contact hours per week and document that contact or it may not claim the state WPU for the student.
(3) The circumstances requiring the services shall be clearly stated and may include specific injuries, surgery, illness, other disabilities, pregnancy, or a district determination that a student should receive home instruction and supervision for a designated period of time. The expected period of absence must be estimated.
(4) A student with disabilities meeting these requirements may be accounted for under the special education homebound instruction program and receive the appropriate special education funding.
D. A student suspended in accordance with the law may be counted in membership, after 10 consecutive days of suspension, if the school continues to provide educational services at the minimum level provided in R277-419-4C, above, to the student during the suspension period.

Wow, to be 16 again and to know everything!

I want to wish you luck with the tutor and schooling situation. Your parents should be proud of you for standing up to the authorities on this issue.

Okay folks; this has gone way off topic. Please let us get back to the original topic brought up by the OP.

I don't hear the OP complaining, and he was the one that mostly changed the subject. Anyway, why can't we lump all his problems together, and fix them at the same time as give him the information for his tutor AND his case?

Anyway, where is LI??!!!!. She's the Legal guru around here.

I do NOT like your tone, Mr.

Since you asked, I did not GET a full scholarship to a school in a state where I was not a legal resident right out of high school. I was able to have everything paid because by the time I applied, I WAS a legal resident of california. Part of the plan, Stan. That's what smart kids do when they are facing opposition. They find ways to make it work within their boundaries.

I don't have any advice, it seems the others have done a great job with that.

I just wanted to share a little story that reminded me of yours. I used to coach at a small town high school. One girl got pregnant and they basically forced her to drop out and attend the alternative schoool. Illegal, yes, but they managed to make her life hellish enough that she WANTED to leave. I also had a girl who got mono and they treated her HORRIBLY for missing school. To the point where she almost dropped out and did not graduate.

I simply don't think it's appropriate to ask someone to abandon their ethics.

So what happened?
