Hormone Testing While Breastfeeding??

Hi All! I would like to know if Estrogen and Projesterone Testing can be done (with accurate results) while a woman is breastfeeding.
I would think that there would be normal ranges for the said hormones for lactating and non-lactating women, but have not been able to confirm this thought.
Could someone out there assist me? I have an apt. tomorrow and it would be great to bring this info along.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mama, I have found that compounding pharmacists are some of the most knowledgeable & sometimes holistic when it comes to hormone testing.

Here's what I've found, it is very difficult to get an accurate result when you are NOT pg, bfing or in perimenopause, let alone when your hormones are out of whack from any of those events.

From what I've read, saliva testing is the most accurate, and it should be done a few times throughout the day as your hormone levels vary depending on the time of day.

HTH

Can I ask why you think you need your hormone levels checked? I've been thinking the same for myself.

I am breastfeeding my 2 yo, and have recently had my hormones tested. I did do the saliva test (very expensive, tho), and my midwife was totally aware that I was breastfeeding. She said the test would still give her all info she needed. The saliva test is supposedly much more accurate as it can tell how your body utilizes the hormones. Good luck.

How expensive is "very" expensive?

I'm thinking of doing this as well and was considering the saliva testing.

My test cost $180, and insurance did not cover it. It was the two tube test.
