anyone's dc chew on your hair?

My DS2 (21 months) has always loved hair, especially mine. He holds it while he falls asleep, while he nurses, plays with it when he cuddles, loves shoulder rides so he can play/hold it, etc. But he also tries to eat it ... he will grab a handful and chew away, try to bite pieces of hair off, separate them to get one strand and chew on it, whatever his mood I guess. He seemed to stop for a while but recently is doing it a lot again, or maybe he never fully stopped and just the increase in frequency has caught my attention again. Is this normal? Is it teething related? (He is cutting his canines.) Is he deficient in some vitamin or something? He hasn't tried to eat anyone else's hair that I am aware of, and I think they would have mentioned it. Anyone else's dc do this?

Thanks!

allllllll the time. i think he just likes the feel of it. i'm constantly pulling hair out of his mouth, and i always have soggy strands. i have to remind him over and over not to PULL.

My dd doesn't chew my hair but she is obsessed with it. It is her safety blanket. She's always saying "hold mommy's hair!".

The tip of my braid was always one of my DS's favorite things to chew and play with, which I find gross because I canNOT stand hair in my mouth.
