Fennell???

Has anyone ever tried this?? I went to the health food store today and this is what the man told me to try. I have tried fenugreek, MM tea and a little oatmeal, when I have time to fix it. He told me that the fenugreek can have the oposite effect on some women????? Anyway. I got that, some more MM tea and some more oatmeal. I plan on having a bowl of oatmeal in the morning, drinking MM tea every 3-4 hours and taking the fennell suppliments. I work 10-12 hour shifts and I can going to MAKE myself take a break and pump at least every two hours. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, or if you have had any experience with the fennel. I would also like to know what other suppliment if any I should take with it. Thanks in advance..

Fennel is mentioned in the book "Mother Food" by Hilary Jacobson, which is a book about herbs and foods to enhance bf'ing. I think the author referred more to fennel as a vegetable (using it in cooking), but fennel as an herb was mentioned too.

You might find that book helpful. She lists every herb that could possibly be used for bf'ing, lists the uses, effects, side effects, dosages, etc. I found it extremely helpful in determining exactly what herbs I wanted to take. You can read portions of this at http://www.mobimotherhood.org/MM/article-herbal2.aspx .

I don't know what it does for milk supply, but it's commonly given to even the smallest babies in Germany....so I do know it's VERY safe.
Good Luck

I've heard of it for increasing milk and I know some mother's milkteas include it.

I also know 2 women who found fenugreek decreased their supply, so yes, that can happen.
