Who's had their wisdom teeth pulled?

I'm supposed to be going to my hometown's homecoming football game with my bestest friend from junior high, who is just in town for the weekend and usually lives about 3 hours away, so obviously we don't get to see each other a lot. She's getting her wisdom teeth pulled today at 3:30 under local anesthesia (no going to sleep), what do you think the odds of her making it to the game are? I don't think any of the teeth are impacted or need to be cut out, but I forgot to ask for sure. She says she's going, but obviously she's never had her WT pulled before so doesn't know what to expect. I had mine pulled but was put out so can't really give a good idea of what to expect, either. If push comes to shove we'll just hang out at her parent's house, but I'm bring DS with, and their house isn't childproofed and there's really not anything for him to do, so I'm hoping we make it to the game.

well I just had 2 pulled last week (or the week before) and I slept for the rest of the day. It took a long time for the numbness to go away, and then the pain set in and I had to take a t-3. I felt a lot better the next day, but it took 2 days for me to not be in any pain.

When I had all 4 pulled, I was violently ill for about 3 days. But I had a general and that is my typical reaction to anesthesia. I also could take nothing for the pain because 1) I could not keep anything down and 2) it would have just made the anesthesia reaction worse.

But if your friend can take narcotic pain killers, game attendance might be remotely feasible.

When I had mine removed, I was out of commission for at least 24 hours, then pretty dopey the next day. But I was completely knocked out for mine.

I had one pulled when I was 5 months pregnant. No pain relief. ouch. I hurt, so all I wanted to do was veg on the couch for the rest of the day.

I like to think that it prepared me for birthing naturally.

when i had all 4 of mine removed, it was a very easy experience for me. i was eating normally 4 hours after surgery. i was a little groggy here and there, but i was put under. there was very little pain, more annoyance, and no swelling. ive heard i am lucky.

I had mine pulled, I didn't feel like doing much of anything except hanging out in my house with an icepack to my face. I had local as well. It wasn't as bad as I expected it would be but it was a little more painful than having a regular tooth pulled.

I suppose it depends on her tolerance for pain, and the meds they give her too. When I had mine out I was fine for the rest of that day – it was the next day that things got bad, after the Novocain and whatnot wore off. After that it was very painful, and hard to do anything but lie on the couch.

Mine had to be chopped into teeny tiny pieces for them to come out, though. With a hammer and chisel -- my head bouncing back and forth from the force of it all. I actually have phantom pain left over from this. Just thinking about it causes the empty spaces to hurt, literally. Maybe just a simple extraction won’t be that bad.

That was my experience, too. I went to a pub gig my DH was playing the night I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I felt great! The next day my whole head hurt.

I had 4 straight extractions with only local. I hate going under. I was in pain for about a week. I cried the first couple of days from the pain.

So, depends on your friend. I hope it all goes well and she is up to going out.

It really depends on the person, dh has his pulled and went to work that night. I don't think he took anything for pain.

I had mine pulled and threw up for 3 days, dh had to carry me to the bathroom for a week I was too weak to even stand. I laid in the fetal postion in bed with tears running down my face for days the pain was so bad. That was with drugs.

I had all four of mine removed. But, I was put under. All were impacted, and all were inside of the gums. I have to say that I was really lucky. I didn't have any swelling. And, although I was groggy after the surgery, a few hours later I was feeling pretty good.

What really did me in, in terms of not being able to do anything or go out anywhere was the pain medication. I took one pill and slept for days. I had no idea one pill could be so strong.

I've had a couple of wisdom teeth pulled and the first time was traumatic because the oral surgeon split my lip with the Novocaine needle, but other than that I was fine to go about my business. I didn't have any complications with either removal - it hurts, of course, it's sore - but didn't affect my activities; I just went and got it done and then went about my business.

I had mine pulled when I was 15, but I was put totally out. Due to meds, I was out for 2 days (I react VERY badly to anesthesia) and missed a week of school because of it. I don't remember if they were impacted or anything though.

Yeah, I think at least a day is needed. I had all 4 out and experienced no pain, but coming off of the drugs took a while, then you are really not supposed to move around much- just rest. And if she is taking prescription pain killers for when the anasthesia wears off, they can make you very groggy.

I had mine out at 17. No pain really at all. I was knocked out. Missed 1 day of school. I didn't even bleed!! My best friend bled all over after hers was taken out...we had the same dentist.

I had mine pulled and was fine. I really only needed Motrin for the pain. I was careful what I are for a few days after that, but as far as activities go, I was fine....
