She's here! 41wk+6 (but who is counting, right) on the morning of September 28th our little girl arrived. 8 lb 10 oz, 5 hour labor, lots of dark straight hair, looks like her daddy.
I woke up with contractions at 3:20 am but wasn't sure they were the real thing, since I've been waking with contrax that disappear for a while now. By 4 am I was sure this was it since I couldn't talk or walk through contrax. My friend who was watching the kids came over and we left for the birthing center. I labored there with the midwife who has been with me for all of my births, and of course dh. Labor was longer than I expected, but once she was ready she came nice and easy with several soft pushes and what a relief to see her at last!
We hung out skin-to-skin and she nursed for an hour and a half then slept. We came home a little after lunch time. ds was thrilled to have another sister, and told me "good job mommy!" dd said (in her two year old patois) "my little sister! I teach her swing, slide, hide-seek, and pushing over!"
We're cocooning and getting to know each other and starting to figure out life as a family of five. Much love to all of you at MDC with your new babies or waiting your new ones!
