My Favorite Baby Doll- a little story.

I have an "anatomically correct" baby doll that my grandmother gave me for Christmas when I was about 8. (yeah, we have a rather progressive family.) I remember she asked me before Christmas whether I wanted a girl or a boy baby doll. I said a boy, since all my other dolls were girls.

When I opened him up, the adults all undressed him to see. I can still remember my mom commenting on the fact that he was "European-made." while looking at his little bits. I didn't know what that meant. The doll looked just fine to me. I think the doll is the reason I ever gave any thought at all to the idea of circumcision. I don't know whether it would ever have occurred to me that it was a choice to be made, had I not had the intact doll as a child. (Thanks, Grammy. My son thanks you too.)

I played with him and took good care of him over the years, and when I had daughters, I let them play with him. It just occurred to me that because of that doll, their little brother who's due in November, and my best friend's son who loves to be naked, my daughters have never seen a circumcised penis. They will probably never see one unless they do when they're grown up.
He's a beautiful doll, made by a company called "Berjusa." I haven't been able to find one like him since. I occasionally see one on Ebay, but there seems to be a sad trend of making "reborn" dolls: dismembering the dolls and sewing a "lifelike feeling" beanbag body to which they attatch the head and limbs. That's sad, because what is more lifelike than an intact penis?

Now that I am confident that my daughters will be exposed to the real thing, thanks to my best friend's son and my son, I can put the doll away and save him for when my little boy is grown up. Then I will give it to him and tell him the story of how this little vinyl doll saved him his foreskin.

Wow, that's so cool.
A little OT, but we had "Baby-think-it-over" dolls in High School and all the boys were intact.

My mom found that exact doll at a yard sale last summer and has shown everyone she knows it's anotomical correctness It even had the "belly band"

Thank you Grammy, indeed.

Lila, I was touched by your story and I've been thinking of getting an anatomically correct boy doll for childbirth education and intactivism for awhile now. So, I bought the doll you linked to in you're OP. Just thought you'd like to know that you're story inspired me to splurge on a new visual aid.

That exact doll was my son's first baby! I bought mine on eBay after looking for it for several weeks. My son played with it for forever. Of course, ours never wore clothes.

Great story! I remember wanting a boy Cabbage Patch kid because I thought he'd have all his parts (he didn't).

This thread insipred me to look up the "Baby Think It Out" program and I found this in the FAQs.

How long will Baby cry before it records a neglect?
Two minutes.
Guess you can't let your "baby" CIO!
