Breathless already?

I clearly recall being breathless with my other two pregnancies, but it seems like it was much later on, when my belly was way bigger and everything was squished.

Well, I feel really breathless already. I catch myself taking big breaths all the time to try to get some oxygen. It makes me feel a little queasy too sometimes.

Is anyone else experiencing some breathlessness? I'm not looking forward to that so-mushed-up-I-can't-breathe-at-all feeling, if it's this bad already.

Feeling breathless now is more likely to be a sign of anemia. I would see f you can get your hemoglobin/hematocrit checked.

I'm breathless, too. My iron *is* monitored closely and my hematologist said that right now, it's the pregnancy (rather than anemia), even though I'm not far along. Other complications include allergy season and the ligament pain.

As with any unexpected breathlessness, mention it to your doctor!

yep, I feel winded when I carry my kiddos up the stairs or the like! I am generly not bothered by such task but have been the last few weeks, I hadn't considered aniemia as the cause of my breathlessness. It seems that I remember feeling this way last time fairly early on so I hadn't really thought much on it. Is this the type of thing that needs prompt attention.

A breathless feeling can be common in the first trimester as progesterone levels raise. Progesterone directly affects your lungs and the respitory center of your brain. Also increased fatigue can make you feel more breathless than normal.

It seems like I heard somewhere that my lungs have grown larger to get more oxygen for all the extra blood and.......stuff going on. (I'm not feeling very intelligent this Monday morning. )

I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I will also get my iron checked, since I'm usually bordering/anemic anyway.
