I have a nephew!!! thumb crossing, prayers, chants, thoughts needed

My little sister (20) had her baby boy yesterday. He was 6lbs15oz and healthy. I dont have many more details because i havnt been able to talk to her directly yet. My mother called to tell us last night. They are in panama city beach Florida and we are in Michgan so we weren't able to be there. Anyway, me and my wife have talked to her many times about circ (among other birth, breastfeeding, and child relatated things) and she is against circ and told us she wont circ her boy. My mother is also against circ now (she has been a nurse for about 20 years and has seen how wrong it is) and she has also talked to my sister about circumcision being wrong. I still can't help but worry that her husband, who is for circ (he has studied NOTHING about circ), or a circ happy doctor will end up persuading her to circ her little boy. I just wanted to say this here because I imagine there is somebody here who can relate to this situation.
THANKS ALL!!

I'm sure she'll do great. I was 21 when I had DS and DH was fighting with me about circ, but I was 100% against it. In the hospital they asked me like a gazillion times if I wanted it done and one nurse acted like I told her I drank blood when I told her no. :

But I was a mama bear!!!!!!! It sounds like your sis knows all of the "why not's" of circ'ing. I'm sure her protective instinct will kick in if anyone tries to convince her to do it.

I hope she gets some good people around her after birth...I am praying for that for you and the little guy. I have to say, I am from FL and there seem to be a lot of intact people down here that I know, I think most of our hispanic population is intact as well. t

thanks guys, I love my sister alot and i know i should have faith in her but, much like my mother, she has been too easily persuaded by men to do the wrong thing. I often wish i was down there so i could help her out and be a big brother for her but she is an adult now and it really is all up to her now. Just knowing what i know about circumcision now, i get saddened when i hear of baby boys being born because i know what a high probability he has of being mutilated. IF i hope to save any boys from circumcision it would be my own nephews.(if we ever have a boy its a given he will remain intact) thanks again all

update!

Hi, I'm AXE's wife... He asked me to update b/c he has a headache and doesn't want to be on the computer right now.

We Just talked to SIL and our nephew is INTACT! She just got home a couple hours ago and is relieved.

I dunno if AXE mentioned this, (I havent read the thread yet, sorry if i'm repeating), SIL was induced on the 28th for various reasons...She told us that when she was admitted, her IL's were there, too, and when the nurse asked if her boy would be circ'd, she said "NO! Gimme that form!" and wrote NO and crossed a big X on the form and gave it back to the nurse.

After the nurse left the room, her grandmother-in-law said, shocked, "you aren't gonna have him circ'd???"

SIL: Nope.

GMIL: why not? its going to look bad if you dont do it...blah blah blah...(SIL tuned her out, lol)

SIL: (angry) well did they cut your p***y lips off when YOU were born??

GMIL: (shocked) well no!

SIL explained how it looks normal and if you cut it, it looks mutilated, and why does she care? she's never going to see it!

her GMIL and MIL left the room, stunned, and didnt bring it up again!

No Dr's or nurses tried to talk her into it at all.

so other than her IL's, she didn't have to deal with any confrontation on the issue. Even her DP hasn't brought it up, and he was very much FOR getting it done prior to their son's birth.

so YAY NEPHEW! He's the 1st natural foreskin in the family since DH's granpa...and as DH pointed out, our 1st save! :

oh, and the 1st thing SIL said to me was, "He has a NORMAL penis!" She was so proud that she stuck to her guns, and so are we, of course!

(And that is not in the least bit excessive, in fact I reckon that there are not enough...)

Well done, it is sort of hard to put into words how great this is and how much pain you saved him and pleasure you helped him evade the loss of...

Thank you.

AXE, Christy, that is so wonderful! Your sister (in law) is without a doubt an incredibly awesome mama. And I loved the "p***y lips" line. Way to go, new parents!

yahooo!!, im still excited about it, OUR FIRST SAVE !!. My sister was pretty pissed because the stupid nurse was never even supposed to bring it up. Apparently my sis had written in her birth plan that the child would not be getting circumcised and that it was not to be discussed with anyone but her. So this idiot lady goes and asks her in front of all these people if the boy was to be circumcised. Do these medical people just not read the damn thing or what? Maybe she was afraid someone might miss the mutilation assebly line or something. My wife already talked about what her inlaws said shortly after that and as you read she had a great comeback for them. Not quite as tackful as I would have, but that is just my sister lol. She was also pretty pissed becuse they all smelled like they just came out of a tobacco bonfire and wanted to hold the newborn : . I hope our next step isn't to help her protect his genitals from the BS "phimosis" scare tactic for circ that mutilation happy doctors seem to use quite regularly, but if a doctor tries that bs we will be her right fist with info ( i wouldnt mind being there in person myself).
