Posting those links was probably changing minds and there's quite a few people who don't want that.

Jen,

I think your post was perfect. You explained the basic procedure in a concise manner and gave links where those who might CHOOSE (of their own accord) to look for more information could do so.

I think that someone was feeling threatened that the word might get out that this wonderful procedure actualy is'nt.

You do a fantastic job - it is them , who are acting in a ridiculous and irresponsible manner.

HFS as opposed to OMG

TMI??? You were posting useful information about an elective cosmetic surgery that any parent IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would want to know about BEFORE having it done to their newborn :

And that, IMO, is why you were censored :

love and peace.

I once linked to the Intact site on the local forum and suggested following the link to their video. I was later accused that I had forced the video on them. Funny really since there is a viewing/user agreement that one has to agree with before being able to download or view the video!

Did you mention that?

I know a few sites I can post that Plastibell info.

What was the site where you were scolded?

Ignorance fears information.

Yep. The mod. locked the thread shortly after because too many people were being abrasive and getting offended I wish there was a forum like MDC locally... heck perhaps that's what I should start

Good lord.

The cool thing about getting too much information is that you can throw away what you don't want. The real problem is not gettting enough information. But when you wanna wack off your son's penis for cosmetic reasons I guess information doesn't matter.

Grr...

While I don't know the board you're referring to, I'm willing to bet it's one of those hypocritical ones when it comes to parents who circ'd and are now having problems and need advice. You know the ones I mean. OH, OVER THERE, IT'S GIMME, GIMME all the info you can for a solution to a problem they created by mutilating in the first place.

Totally riding the waves of assumed popularity and not wanting to rock the boat.

Okay, I've had my limit of metaphors for the night.

Honestly, what is wrong with these people? They don't want to see it done to someone else's baby because it's so terrible, but they have no problem letting someone do it to theirs?!?
on what PLANET does that make sense?!?

I think we need a 'head buried in the sand' smilie for this.

how plastibell myths start

I know the board referred to, I've the last post on the thread and the thread was closed apparently after 2 argumentative posts after mine were deleted. I hope the posters learnt something.

My post explained how mainstream media was stating plastibell was a no-cut surgery and they got that information from interviewing hard core circumcisionists without cross-checking. Sloppy irresponsible journalism IMO.

A lot of censorship on that board, Ive had words censored all over the place, which are too emotive.

Oh this doesn't surprise me at all. All the time I read how mothers are threating about circumcision and commenting how they are happy that they don't have to be in the same room when it happens.

I have no words either in finnish or english to describe how those comments make me feel.

How deep can cultural blindness and denial be?

I can't even read the last post w/o cringing...

I am so glad we didn't do that to our boys. Ours are the only in our family that are not mutilated.
