yeah, goose poop is disGUSting. i was just curious if there were any known weird bunny bugs that he could get from ingesting this fine delicacy.

I would assume that anything in bunny poop that causes diarrhea in your dog would also cause problems for the rabbit (E. coli, for instance). This article mentions that parasites that rabbits carry cannot live inside humans, but makes no mention of dogs: http://www.rabbitnetwork.org/articles/parasites.shtml. I suppose it could be a possibility.

our dog eats rabbit poo all the time and no ill effects.

this was also asked on a dog board I visit and no one has had any issues.

ok great! thanks all if his soft stool continues, i'll bring in a sample.

Yes, they can pick something up called coccidia (sp?) from eating bunny poop.
One of my dogs kept infecting herself. Its easily identified if you take a stool sample to the vet......the treatment I think is a drug called Albon, which is cheap and the coccidia is easily eradicated.

Its hard to stop them eating it though - we have to use a muzzle with a stool guard to stop her eating it (she also eats her own poop too). At least it saves her being sick.

i was afraid of that. my pup had a coccidia infection when he first came to us and it was really hard to get rid of. i'll be taking in a stool sample ASAP. thanks for the heads-up.

btw, i've heard of using a meat tenderizer on a dog's food so that they don't eat their own poop. don't know how you'd feel about that?!

Coccidiosis. I completely forgot about that

Well, I know that rabbits can consume meat tenderizer in small amounts. It's supposed to break down the build up of hair in the intestines and prevent a blockage, but color me skeptical Anyway, it's relatively safe for them in small amounts. I just don't know that it would affect their poops, and I definitely don't think you'll be able to get to every 'cocoa puff' before your dog does.
