Practice only offering ProQuad--grrrrr

We were planning on delaying MMR until 15 months (or 18 months, because they're preemies),and not doing varicella at all--and now I find out our practice only gives ProQuad. Grrrr...so what do I do now? I've already asked about breaking up the MMR, and they said no. We have Medicaid, fwiw.

Sounds like I have to find a new doc.

Can you go to your local health department for shots?

i second seeing if the health dept would be able to do the shots. (our county health dept in cny has a vax clinic.) they may even be able to break up the MMR shots.

did you ask the dr why they wont break up the MMR? if they claim its because they dont make the vax, the dr is full of it. it is possible to order each vax seperate. however, i think they come in multi dose vials so the dr probably does not want to order the whole vial for just 2 kids and have the rest go to waste. (the health dept may be more willing to do this- i'm sure there's other parents who want to break up the MMR.)

fyi about the cp vax, your dr may drop you as patients if you dont stick to the recommended vax schedule. when pregnant with dd, i called many pediatricians' offices and most said that kids who are not vaxed on schedule are not allowed as patients. many parents here have commented on here about being dropped after refusing a vax.

Or maybe you could have a single visit with different ped for the MMR? Or three visits if you want to split them up?
Just call different peds until you find one that has the seperate shots?
