It's called cottage blue and it's either by Laura Ashley or Waverly. Lowe's sells it.

Yes, the colors are adorable. I love the blue with the white cabinets and silver fixtures. It looks so clean and refreshing.

LOVE IT!

Weird is relative hee hee. I just blogged about them. Simplifying is weird too in this culture

Looks good Sarah.
Interesting.

Sara-I love the dreads. My hair is to short at this point to dread but if it was longer...sigh. Can I ask where you purchased all those cute hair wraps? I ebayed for some but no real luck...mostly only tams available. I am sending you a pm about something else all together.

So many options. I love Catina Jane's house on Flickr. Check it out. It's so bohemian and funky. I get lots of inspiration from Flickr groups like "Corners of My Home" and "Apartment Therapy". We'll figure it out as we go. I'm especially excited to create a little haven for Bella. There is a wonderful little nook with a window that will be perfect for her play area.

I am certainly looking forward to moving back into a place of our own. By the time we get back, it will be going on 8 weeks. That's a long time without your own bed.
Thanks for the great links! They inspired me to clean my bedroom! We just hung double curtain rods in there, so that I can have sheers (which I already had in the closet) for light but heavier curtains (which I had up in the bedroom already) for privacy when needed. I love the additional light, and now my space is clean, too!

Sara and other compacting mamas - I'd like to know where home decor (paint, accessories, art, furniture, organizational supplies) fall on your spectrum of "needs vs. wants" in your quest to simplify and declutter? What do you feel is okay/not okay to buy and bring home?

I'm a big fan of the show "Freestyle" where a designer redesigns a room using what the homeowners already have, but even so don't you at some point have to acquire "things" to make a home feel like a home?

Maybe paint could be obtained from FreeCycle or 2nd hand building supply yards? You could make home decor items - pillows, curtains, art, etc. You could hang art made by friends and family.

Isn't the emphasis also on used items rather than new? So buying a kitchen table at the thrift store is more Compact-friendly than getting a new one at Ikea.

I love to paint. So the rooms in the house change color every couple years. I would be miserable in a white walled house. However, I don't spend a bunch on decor to go with the color changes. I have a few pieces I love and can go with any color scheme.

Right now here's our current paint colors:
living room green as of this weekend it will be purple
kitchen is terra cotta/orange
hall is deep blue
bath is light purple
pantry is yellow
our bedroom is khaki
ds 1 is gold ds 2 is green and blue ds 3 is blue

it is very rich colors and boho

Is it a need? well not really. Is it a stress buster, feel good, I love my house thing? You bet cha!!!!!!!

Your home sounds amazing! I'd love to see of all the colors you have on your walls! I love paint, too. We don't change wall color often, but we have a couple rooms I'd like to liven up with color so I think paint supplies will be exempt from my compact.

What about original art? I love buying directly from artists on ebay or farmers markets.

Our digital camera is currently residing at Canon because it broke. It is due back any day and I will be happy to post my pics. I love my house. Lots of people are eggshell white people and that's super. I just can't deal with white walls. Maybe its all those early years working in the sterile hospital enviroment. Saturday the living room will be purple. It is by Olympic paints and the color is C44-5 named plum shade. Check it out and see what you think.
