She is 5 1/2 yo & I took her to the dentist a few days ago for a cleaning and check up. The dentist said her teeth looked really good. He said she had one tooth on the top that they were "keeping an eye on" and had made a note of it. What does that mean exactly? I mean, if it's starting to show some sign of getting a cavity then it's going to, right?

I worry because when I was a kid I almost never had candy or soda, was fed a very healthy diet, and always brushed my teeth...yet I *always* had cavities. I have so many fillings it's not even funny. DD is basically my clone so I'm afraid she got my same genetics. And since she was only 1 or 2 she gets really bad breath easily.

Is there anything I can do so that the tooth doesn't get a cavity? They also mentioned a special toothpaste for my kids that you can only buy through the dentist that has really concentrated flouride. I forget what they called it. I thought flouride really wasn't such a good thing after all though. We buy bottled water and are on city water. No flouride in either of them.
