My dd is 11.5 months old and I have been EPing for her. She never nursed well. We had terribly difficulties, and she completely quit trying at 3 months. I know we don't stand a chance any time soon. I try periodically and she has no idea what a breast is for even when it is dripping/squirting milk. Is there a chance she will be able to understand how to nurse in say, the next 6 months or so?
I can't pump forever. I am exhausted from getting up 3-4 times a night with her, and also getting up 3 times a night to pump. (my supply is dropping even with pumping 12 times in a 24 hour period) I don't know how much longer my body can handle the sleep deprivation. It is also becoming a safety issue pumping when she is not sleeping and when she is awake and dh is not home to watch her for me.
I would like for her to have breastmilk until she is atleast 2. I do have a lot of frozen milk, but I prefer her to have fresh. Life could be so much easier if she could just nurse...
Has anyone had any luck with teaching a toddler to nurse?
