What are your babes eating at daycare (and home)?

I used to be so concerned with my little guy getting enough milk during his long (91/2 hours) at daycare but finally feel ok about that. Now he is 10.5 months and eats solids but I'm wondering if he gets enough of that during the day. I figure for the whole day between nursing or bottles of ebm - he gets about 20-24 oz. of bm a day. For breakfast at daycare he gets some cereal (still the baby kind) and a jar (4 oz) of fruit. For lunch he gets a jar of veggies (sometimes a jar and 1/2) - for snack he gets a yogurt and some cheerios.
Should I be sending in some meat or bread too? And for dinner - some days he'll eat good - other days he'll eat maybe not quite a 4oz. jar of veggie, a little bread and a little fruit.

Does this seem about typical? Do any of the babes in daycare also eat dinner there - if not what time do they eat at home? Sorry so many questions- just hoping maybe a few people will post their babes age and feeding schedule and I can see if we fit into it all.

Thanks.

Well my dd is a bit younger, but I thought I would post what she does since I'm curious too...

She is away from me 8 1/2 a day (4x a week). She doesn't go to daycare until 12pm.

So she eats at 6:30am, just nursing, again at around 9am, just bm, and then again at 11:30 when she eats cereal and tops off with bm.

At daycare she eats a 4-6oz bottle of ebm.

My dh picks her up at 4 and around 5:30 she eats cereal, almost a jar of veggies (so far she's had sweet potatoes and carrots, squash is next) and a 5-6oz bottle of ebm. When I get home at 9:00 I get her up to nurse (more for me than her, I think she could sleep through the night without it), so she might get 2 oz then. My plan is to get through all the veggies and then at the morning solid food time, start with the fruit.

My best friend's dd is 9 months old and she basically eats solid food for three of her meals (and is topped off with bm), and then right before bed just has bm. I think that she has already started on meats, but her dd is not too thrilled with them.

HTH, I'm looking forward to seeing what others say.

While I'm at work (8 hours a day), ds will eat one 4 oz. jar of solids (fruit or veggies) and about 8--10 oz. of ebm.

Then, he nurses FREQUENTLY during the evening/night/early morning when I am home.

He is 9 months old.

It's been awhile (ds is almost 3!) but at this age (approaching the 1 year mark) I think he was eating 3 tablespoons of Healthy Times cereal (I alternated between the various grains, trying not to do too much rice) mixed with two ice cubes of puree for each meal. I did fruit for breakfast, veg for lunch and one meat and one veg for dinner (Dad fed him dinner). I tried to vary the fruits and vegetables as much as possible. And about 4 bottles of formula.

Looking back I realise I was kind of obsessed with his food. I never actually fed him during the week because I had this major commute to work so babysitter fed him breakfast and lunch and Dad fed him dinner. I was away from him approx. 12 hours a day, 5 days a week I spent all my 'spare' time making baby food, probably to make up for my guilt. Thank God I quit that job! I'm still working just in a much more family friendly way.

Dd is now 15 months, but in thinking back to 11 months, she was only taking one bottle (6 ounces) of EBM, and right at that age she was starting to refuse that bottle sometimes. Then I would come nurse her at lunch. Otherwise, she ate all solid food. I would send 5-6 of those little tupperwares full of food (a little babyfood, but we were getting into finger food at that point); somedays all the tupperwares would come back empty, and other days they would come back half full. DD basically 'snacked' all day though (and still does), so it's hard to say how many 'meals' she ate.

I think you dc would let you daycare provider know if she wasn't getting enough!

Well my ds is older now, and I'm currently a sahm but I have (saved on my computer) my ds typical days at 7mos. and at 10mos.

Lucas at 7mos.:
7am - 7oz. Bottle
8am - 1/4c. Cereal mixed w/ ½ jar fruit
9am - nap
11am - 7oz. Bottle
Noon - 1 jar veggie
1 or 2pm - nap
3 or 4pm - 7oz. Bottle
6pm - 1/4c. Cereal mixed w/ either ½ jar fruit or veggie
7pm - bath, story, 8oz. Bottle

(All times do vary day to day and are aprox. He also gets diluted juice or water in a sippy cup after each solid food “meal”. We have just started Stage 2 foods this week. He is a good eater and loves all his fruits, veggies, and his bottles.)

Lucas’ Schedule at 10mos.
7am - 8oz. Bottle
8am - Breakfast: at daycare (Grain, Fruit, and Dairy)
10am - Morning Snack: at daycare (Grain and fruit, or fruit and dairy)
11am or so - Nap
Noon - 1:00pm - Lunch time: A fruit and a veggie, along w/ a grain, meat, or dairy food
7oz. of formula
2pm or so - Nap
3 or 4pm - Afternoon Snack: snack foods from cupboard and sippy cup (water, juice, or formula) and maybe some yogurt or fruit
6pm - Dinner: A grain, veggie or two, maybe some meat, and possible "dessert" along w/ formula in sippy
6:30pm - Bath and story time (at least every other day)
7pm - 8oz. Bottle

My ds was (and still is) always a big eater, also I was only able to bf for about 6mos. so that might make some differances as he had formula after that. He also refused babyfoods at 10mos. so then he was just on table foods, and formula. We started meats and other foods at about 8mos.

I always wondered this too.....still do sometimes :

I've always been a bit of a freak about this. At about 11 months, I finally decided to trust DS and what he decided he did (and did not) need to eat. Some days he eats like a horse, other days he seems to exist on air and kisses. So, like Mere, I just sent several different things in tupperware and waited to see what came back. I always tried to include a vegetable, a fruit, a starch, and a protein - mostly non-meat, and a high-fat item (some things covered more than one category, obviously). And it was always something that he had a reputation for liking, although we all know how that works out. By then, he was using his sippy, so I sent EBM along in his cup. Some days he drank a lot, others he held out for me.

I find that now is not much different, except that we do more whole milk during the day. And, he's taken a liking to meat, so I will send that occassionally. However, he gets most of his meat at dinnertime with us. I don't think I fed him any meat until he was about 14-months, but that's just me. Bread, he loves, but I don't send it for lunch.

ds is 1 year and won't drink a bottle, sippy cup, or anything else unless i'm the one giving it to him.
which isn't very helpful when he's at daycare 10 hours a day.
he takes cheerios, whole grain crackers, mashed vegetables, lentils, bananas, apple slices, cucumber slices... really, whatever we have on hand to send with him. on sundays i steam and mash enough veggies that i know he'll have enough food for the week, so it's mostly vegetables, but some finger foods for when he wants to feed himself.
then he nurses from the moment we get home until the next morning when we leave again. he is a leech, a barnacle and a cutie, all rolled into one.
