I've been trying to find any informastion about this on the web but haven't had any luck.

Do any of you know if there is an active campaign to get PBS to stop advertising formula before and after parenting shows?

Many people take what they see on PBS as gospel truth. Not to mention it contradicts much of what the programming teaches.

I understand PBS needs money to stay afloat, but there has to be another way.

Ya know, I remember when I saw a "commercial" on PBS, I almost shi* my pants. What are they doing with the money that they raise? I really think that they should STOP giving out "thank you gifts" and use 100% of the money to just fund PBS. YKWIM? When they started with the commercials, I ended the TV "restriction" that I had in my home. At one point, it was the only TV that my children saw, but what the hell, if they have commercials on that channel, why not let them watch disney too?: Please don't flame me for letting my kids watch TV, I have thought hard before I let them watch it, but I do have restrictions on when, what channels, and how much they watch. We have Directv, and there is this lovely thing called locks and limits, thank goodness. Well enough OT posting, I am interested on how to get them to get rid of that formula BS. SO, I am subbing

I was and still am surprised as some of the ads and commercials on our local PBS station. Its mostly local businesses doing thier advertising, but there are quite a few national commercials on there too.

I saw that ad too....it was right before this *mom* show and one of the topics was BFing and going back to work. Do they even think about placement? I know the answer is *yes* ......my DH is in advertising. So disappointing.:
