If AF affects your supply, will preg. affect sooner?

Or to make this question more clear, if AF lowers your supply, are you more/less likely to have a lower supply sooner if you become pregnant? Or is every case just individual?

I think it varies from mother to mother. One of my friends got pregnant while exclusively breastfeeding her four-month-old and was able to keep up a good milk supply through the pregnancy. In my case, I wasn't even able to get pregnant with my second until my first was hardly nursing at all (which makes my children almost five years apart), so I'm sure my milk supply had already dwindled BEFORE pregnancy.

This is strictly anecdotal, but my supply seemed to be affected by AF, and when I got pregnant, by the time I was in my second trimester, my milk seemed to be pretty much gone. Thankfully my colostrum came in quickly so we've got that now til the end... I have never read that there is a correlation but it would be interesting to see if you get similar replies from other mamas!

My supply has always been affected by af, but I had milk throughout my 2nd pg. Ds did complain about the change in taste, and *I* noticed a change in volume, but he seemed not to care at all. There was definitely milk the whole way through - I used to be quite obsessive about checking.

Just fyi, taking a calcium and magnesium supplement from the day of ov, or even every day, has a big impact on your supply just before and the first couple of days of af. Dd used to complain loudly about the drop in milk and seems not to notice at all since I started taking the supplement.
