yes. He said it wasn't going to hurt him.

Yes, but he later referred to it as "black smoke". However, my dh's theory is that the first time Locke faced off with it, he saw a light, and later, when it tried to pull him down, it was smoke. Perhaps he didn't put the two together?

Anyway, I disagree. I think Locke lied.

I read in the magazine today that in the final episode of 2006, Kate will make a clear choice.
I do not dislike Jack, but I want her to be with Sawyer. He is passionate, fun, inventive, spontaneous, and everything I think you want in a lover. Jack is too busy trying to do the right thing or be the better person, dykwim?

He looked frightened when it took him.

Me too. Every time I see him I get flaschbacks of Party of Five and I end up saying. "Shut Up Charlie".

I'm not really rooting for Kate to be with anyone. I don't see why everyone has to end up with someone all the time in movies/TV. Still, if I had to pick - and ESPECIALLY after she and Sawyer have been through so much together duing this captivity - it's Sawyer hands-down. Ideally, I think I'd set her up with Sayid. the whole thing Sayid had with Shannon made me want to puke :

I used to really really like Kate and Jack together...but now that she and Sawyer have been left together, they are sort of growing on me. I still really like Jack though (never watched Party of Five, though).

I think Kate and Sawyer make more sense than Kate and Jack. All three of those characters are getting on my nerves lately, though.

Sayid needs a REAL woman, like, um, ME.

Yep, she needs to get with Sawyer. Jack is all mine!

I have not read this thread to catch up.. saving that for a rainy day when DD is asleep in my arms, so I applogize if I'm repeating anything, but I just want to put these things out there...

Roughly around 22:23 minutes into the episode, when Ben is talking to Jack, you can hear the smoke machine in the background.

Also, around 40:28 you can very clearly hear a horse when the smoke monster is bashing him into trees.

Plus, does anyone else find it ironic that Eko being a holy man was killed in sequence with the father, the son, the holey, and the spirit? First thrown in to the air (in the name of the father), then banged to the groun in the name of the son), then he is hit against the left tree (the holy) and hit against the right tree (spirit).

Ooohhh-just reading that gave me chills. Excellent observation.

Ooh - good observation! There is a ton of religious imagry in this show. When Eko and Locke got to the plane in this week's episode, they had to push a rock away from in front of opening to the plane, and then Eko said he's not here...kinda like the Jesus resurrection story.

I'm SO sad that Mr Eko's character has been killed off. Eko and Sayid are my favourite characters. If they kill off Sayid, that's it, I'll never watch Lost again:

Eko was killed off because in real life both his parents died last year and he told the Lost people that he didn't want to do a long term commitment to the series... according to TV Guide anyway.

Actually, he asked to be written out because he's working on a project he's directing.

Either way, I liked the character Mr Eko... I will miss him

I really should stop reading the official Lost website and the episode guides, as Season 3 hasn't started here in England yet, not for another couple of weeks. I'm ruining it for myself.

As much as I like Jack, I have a crush on Sawyer. I think he has stronger feelings for Kate and a better match for her.
i so have a thing for the goody goody.... i am rooting for jack and kate....

woo hoo! DH and i had a LOST marathon of season 2 and then caught up online with season 3 Saturday and Sunday. we didn't have cable for the first 2 seasons and actually got cable to watch LOST and now are hooked on Heroes as well. evil evil TV. anyways, just wanted to chime in and say i'm already annoyed by the two newbies. i was happy to see Shannon and Boone go and now it looks like they have been reincarnated.
another question i have is do you think when Eko told Locke that 'you're next' he might have just meant Locke? or could he have said 'you're all next'? because i would miss me some Locke even though he's pretty crazy at times.
i'm pretty on the fence about Julliette. i can't figure out if she's good or bad. but the actress always plays good so i don't know...
do you think we have seen the last of Micheal? the man has annoyed me from day one. i hope we have but at the same time for sweet revenge i want him to end up back on the island stuck with the people he betrayed.
okay, i better stop typing now.

I agree, the new characters are really annoying
I wonder if they brought them in to kill them off? kinda like the sapranos
