On Sept 30, Canada participated in the Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge. There were 155 registered sites, and 4685 babies. The results are listed here:

The largest site was in Montreal, with almost 800 babies. The Montreal article and photos are below - you MUST see the photos!

Power in numbers as 800 moms join breast-in

The triplets taking turns on their mother's breast seemed blissfully unaware of the thousand other babies and boobies surrounding them at Complexe Desjardins yesterday.

But the meaning, the joy and the power of yesterday's nurse-in at the mall was not lost on the other participants, who at the stroke of 11 a.m. began feeding their babies to launch world breastfeeding week.

(see link for article and photo)

Here is Montréal's public health website with many photos of the breastfeeding challenge.

Re: the dad with the twins in a sling.

I don't know if he is it, but I was told:

"The Sunday edition of "Journal de Montreal" also had a great story (in
french of course) and picture of the mother of triplets whose husband fed
expressed breast milk to one baby at 11 AM while Mom breastfed their two
other babies. Perhaps you are still able to access it."

Anyone who reads French, want to search for it?

Awesome pictures! I wish we had stuff like that around here. I don't have any children to breastfeed but certainly would've gone for support.

I couldn't find it... but the site is really hard to navigate and a lot of the articles are not availible without paying...

Though it it not a negative thing, I think that the big turn out was in part and mostly due the "host" of the event.

As you can see in the pics there is a woman that is often there (without a babe)... well she is a very known and loved french-canadian actress and the host of "star-academie" which is the french-canadian version of American or Canadian Idol and as big a phemomena here than the english versions are in other places...

She really put a lot of effort in getting moms inspired to go and of course they got the chance to meet a celebrity at the same time...

Like I said it is not at all a bad thing but I do wonder how many moms would have been there without her support....

What is the name of this celebrity person?

Oh well, we are always talking about getting celebrities involved in promoting breastfeeding... so why not?

I couldn't see too many pics, but that was a GREAT article-- there was no lame cop-out about "choice" etc. It was so truly supportive!!!
