Lumps in breast-VERY freaked out!

Hi. Last night as I was nursing dd to go to bed, I noticed that lumps had formed in my right breast in the ducts. The ducts are full but aren't emptying! They are not painful yet, but it's only been about 10 hours. I tried to have her nurse that side forEVER but they didn't go down. So I put her down and pumped for about 30 minutes-didn't go down. I didn't freak yet because I'd had over-full ducts before and dd just nurses them out. So when she woke up in the night to nurse, they didn't go down, so I pumped AGAIN, didn't go down. Now I'm a little freaked. She nursed again this morning before I headed to work, I put hot packs on to try to ease swelling, helped a little but they're filling up again! It's only on right breast and I had dd nurse ONLY on that side this morning. Pumped again when I got to work, will pump again in about an hour, and dd will come up to nurse in about 4 hours. I only got a tiny bit out of the breast. It's starting to get tender, but not painful yet. My question is: should I go home and just nurse all day???? I don't want anything horrible to happen as I just got over thrush AND vasospasms!!! I don't know how much more I can take!! Help please???

my midwife told me to get rid of plugged ducts, drink lots of water, take lots of vitamin C, get rest and, most helpful for me, nurse with babies chin facing the plugged ducts. this almost always works for me. you might have to do if a few times. if this doesn't work, I don't know what to do.
hope you feel better soon. i know exactly how you feel.

Another thing to try is massaging your breast (gently of course) from the lump to the direction of the nipple. Moms who seem to get a lot of them have found taking lecithin supplements helpful. (I do not know the dose off hand but if you are interested, PM me and I'll look it up - I'm sure it's on Kellymom somewhere.)

Take care!

I had this for a few days, too, and was paranoid I had a cancerous lump. I took a hot bath for an hour and massaged them gently the entire time, then nursed for a long time. They went away the next day. I think the suggestions from other mamas are also good.
Good luck!
