That was Susan she's been a regular on ER since it's beginning.
Although she took sometime off and came back.

YOu've got to give ER kudos for being bfing friendly. Once they showed Nurse Hathaway holding the twins and they were all calm and happy. Someone made a comment about it and she said something to the effect that they are always calm and happy after she nurses them!!!!

Yes! When I saw Abby walking quickly down the hallway doing the "press your boobs" manuever, I knew she was about to leak. I don't know if the actress has kids but I am glad someone on the ER set knew what manuevers we do for leaking!

I did the same thing! DH was like, huh, how do you know? I loved "My boobs are about to explode!"

I liked how she was so comfortable with pumping- so matter of fact, even with someone else in the room.

I loved how she has always been so matter of fact about it. Here she is having a coversation with pratt and she is obviously stripping down to pump.... undoes a button, untucks her shirt... and he is like" whooa what are you doing?"

Matter of fact... my boobs are about to explode... I also LOVE that she was able to stop what she was doing and take advantage of that let down.

Yeah, I would not nurse in front of Morris either! I LOL when that happened. It did kind of seem he was wanting a look see. I'd sure nurse in front of George Clooney

Sorry, just need to pick up on this because I don't think that's an accurate statement at all. With my first baby all I could afford was a single Avent manual pump and I had more than enough milk for him. My supply was absolutely fine, he certainly never complained, I could pump plenty. I think the fact that he still occasionally nurses at 3.8 years alongside his sister proves that!

I was happy about the pumping too, but we mustn't forget last year when they showed a very rude mother complaining that she needed to breastfeed her child, who was probably 7 years old. They didn't put this on to help the cause of CLW -- we were supposed to think she was a freak. Then the next week a woman who wanted a natural birth ended up with a braindead baby (or something along these lines happened) because she refused a C-section. I quit watching the show for the rest of the season after these two episodes. And yes, the vaccination/measles thing. And what about Abbey and Luka (sp? and sp?) just sitting on the couch while the baby cried upstairs in the crib? Not very AP. Pumping good, but I'm not ready to pin a silver star on ER's a** just yet!

Also, when Carol (??) had the twins, she had a cesarean for the second one, and when Abby was taking the first one up to the nursery, Carol said, "What if she gets hungry?"
A: Oh, we can supplement a little.
C: Are you sure?
A: Yeah, it's no big deal.

She also said that after having the first one without drugs, she definitely wanted drugs for the second one.

I don't think anyone mentioned that when Kerry's (chief of staff) partner Sandy Lopez was in surgery (she was a police officer? and dies) she jokes with Kerry that at least she pumped that day just before she dies.

Of course, it was just horrible thinking about using up that breastmilk after she died-- and then the family pushed for custody and Kerry didn't get to see the baby for a while.

Oh, I remember just having tears streaming down my face at times with that-- and she wasn't always the most likable character.

The other one that killed me was when Carter's wife's baby died in utero (almost full term) and it showed her (implying for hours) birthing, then she wouldn't hold or look at the baby, then they also taped up her breasts (which I realize they don't reallly do anymore, but for a visual effect THAT had impact). THAT was hard to watch.

I almost went in and woke Joshua up after THAT one.

Jessica - I am so glad I don't watch the show anymore (after Dr Greene died, it just wasn't the same). I would have lost it.

For the record, if I lost a baby, I would want to pump and donate milk for as long as I could. I mean, if your baby can't use it, why not give it to a baby who can?

I know what you mean.

ER was very hard to watch for a while after that. A friend of mine lost her baby in very much the same way (granted it was a few months after that show aired.) I was pregnant when it aired and I was pretty upset myself. I almost woke my older DD, but I did go in and watch her sleep for a few min.

2 months after my baby was born my friends was still born. The cord was wrapped around her neck 5 times. I must say my friend and her family dealt with the loss a lot better then Carter and his girl.

When her milk came in and she had no baby was very painful. :

My friend is pregnant again. She is due in April. Her daugher would of been 2 this Sept.

Hathaway said "a BOTTLE of milk?" and then gave him a disgusted look.
Plus he was eating the cereal in one of those trays they use for sick patients to barf into (a clean new one of course) but it just shows what a jerk the character was.

They soon realized he wasn't going to "settle down" and Luca went up to hold him/sing to him. I wouldn't have equated that to CIO.

The sling mommies made me laugh! I've met a few moms that get all self-righteous like that.
