Dh wouldn't go for a homebirth, at least not right now. I guess I could pretend like I didn't need to go to the birth center until later and oops! We won't make it to the birth center

How can OBs sell your info to the formula companies and get away with it? Isn't that a HIPAA violation? I suppose if you can't prove who sold it, then they can't be fined...and if they're in bed with the formula companies, the formula companies won't admit they got info from the doctor... :

Wow, I had almost an identical conversation with an employee at Motherhood Maternity a few months ago. Here is how mine went down...

Her: Breastfeeding?
Me: Yes.
Her: (Eyeing me suspiciously) Is this your first child?
Me: (Confused) No, my second.
Her: Okay, then I'll put it as a yes. I always put no for the first time moms even if they say yes since most of them can't nurse anyway.
Me: I think you are doing a disservice to those women. With the proper support , nearly 100% of women can nurse. It's what our bodies are built to do.
Her: (back pedaling) Oh, I totally support nursing. I'm planning on doing it, my breasts are huge so I'm sure I won't have a problem.

WHAT?!?! I couldn't believe this conversation even took place. Obviously ill-informed on breastfeeding (what do huge breasts have to do with anything) and disrespectful to a woman's choice to breastfeed. Geez. This place needs to a do a little breastfeeding 101 training for all employees before allowing them to discuss the matter with customers. :

I won't go there because one time I needed to nurse while at the mall, and the first few months I was really shy about nip. (Also, because I was blessed with such an abundance, I liked to undo both sides of the bra and stick a cloth diaper over the other one to catch the milk that could fly amazing distances.)

Anyhow, I figured Motherhood would have a space for me to nurse so I stopped in. The girl working was very snotty to me, and told me they have a nursing room by the family bathroom, which was at the other end of the mall.

I have learned from other boards that they used to ( and maybe still do) sign you up for thier credit card. And, you know, if you cancel credit cards it messes with your credit history.

I never ever ever shop there.
I shop the Goodwills, garage sales, and my friends and I trade clothes, which is much more economical.

LOL When my step mom took me on a shopping spree, we ended up int here (I can't turn down free clothes). The woman asked (obviously pg) and I said, I'm still not done BFIng number 1 and I can guarantee I'll be BFing number 2 so I don't need the samples, thanks. She then says, well you'll need the diaper coupons. I just laughed and my step mom butted in and said "Nope, she's cloth diapering too." Like she was proud of me

I was shopping there last month and the cashier asked me if I wanted to be signed up for the rewards program to "get coupons for formula and diapers". I kindly replied that I would be breastfeeding and using cloth. She rolled her eyes. I find it sad that Motherhood sells nursing bras yet they give out formula coupons, as if they expect everyone to fail/give up on nursing :

There's a class action suit going on this very minute against Motherhood and it's affiliates!!! I just got the postcard in the mail telling me all about it. Google it and it should pop up. It's about asking for names and all that...

Here's a tip: whenever a store like that asks me for my name and info, I give them either a misspelling of my name or a different name altogether. That way when I get a bunch of junk in the mail, I know it's from them. I could just say no, but I am curious to see who gets my info.

Last time I went, the girl asked me about BF'ing. She wanted to know if your breasts sag when you BF. I said... "I don't know... mine look bigger and better when I nurse, so I plan on nursing until my baby is 18 years old or so". The look on her face was priceless!!!

you know, i went to MM while pregnant and gave them my address so they could send me "samples" and I never got a damn thing! lol

I never got harassed for an address or phone number, but I did have a really nasty clerk give me a hard time when I refused to sign my receipt (to acknowledge their draconian return policy). The da** policy was posted all over the store and printed on the receipt; I sure wasn't going to sign it too! The clerk got really nasty and then wrote "customer refused to sign" on my receipt. What an awful store!

I refuse to give them anything. I went in a couple of months ago and had to go through a whole run around to get them to continue the sale without my name or phone number or anything. But don't you want the free magazines? :

Do be careful too, if they simply ask for your zip code and you use a credit or debit card, they are able to put two and two together and get your info to send you crap.
