Overnight Field Trip: Joke's On ME

Here's a sign that I need to learn to walk my talk. I'm pretty eco-aware about carpooling, low-emission vehicles, not driving suv's, etc. DS's class is going on an overnight field trip; about a 2.5 hour drive. I didn't want to ride with other moms, just wanted to drive on my own w/kidlet. I got assigned to drive with a mom and kid I don't care for. . . Serves me right I guess. There's no way to get out of it, either. Bleah!!!

Bummer : Bring music . . . or sing kids songs the whole way . . . then you won't have to talk to them

Get to the library and check out those Jim Weiss storytelling tapes and CD's! Everybody loves them and they are pretty long. Pretend they are for a correspondence course you're taking and if nobody else wants to listen, whip out a walkman and "study" for the rest of the trip.

Thank you, both of you, for the understanding words that may get me through this with a minimum of weirdness. I've gotten so CRANKY and INTOLERANT as I've gotten older. I'm working on not being such a meanie. THanks again. . .

This has been a lesson to me... when my kids are old enough for these overnight trips, I'm going to volunteer to set up the car pool! I'll keep my cranky, judgemental reasons for offering to do it to myself!

Let us know how it goes...
