Need advice about spotting

Just wanted to send an update. We had an ultrasound today. The baby is perfect! She is measuring perfectly on for dates and we could see the heartbeat The doctor was fabulous and there is not an obvious reason for the bleeding (which included spotting on Friday and a gush of bright red blood yesterday). She did say to be very careful, drink lots of water and don't lift anything - including Ella (our 3 year old).

I am on cloud nine right now!!

I've had 3 perfect pregnancies followed by a miscarriage at 10 weeks in July. The doctor said the baby died because of a chromosomal abnormality.

So, I spotted some yesterday. Not a flow, but definitely noticeable. It stopped quickly. I have an ultrasound scheduled on Monday for the research study I am in. We should be able to see the heartbeat then.

Is there anything I should do this weekend? Should I go to the emergency room even though the spotting stopped quickly? Should I go buy some wild yam cream from Whole Foods - would that hurt anything?

Any suggestions? I am freaking out!

Just rest and drink lots of water. Spotting isn't necessarily a sign that a miscarraige is beginning. It is common enough and often indicates that the placenta may be moving from over the cervix to the side of the uterus. With both my miscarraiges, I spotted and bled without stopping for several days. You do want to take notice of the color of the blood. Brown old blood is rarely anything to worry about. Bright red blood, on the other hand can signal that something is amiss. There's a great book by Susun Weed called Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year. She has great information on maintaining a pregnancy and completion of a miscarraige using herbs.

That is great news! I think we are in the same early pregnancy study. My ultrasound is on 10/23. I'll be 8 weeks then and am hoping it turns out as well as yours.
