Do you have a toddler? - Page 2

Ds will be 37 months when the baby comes. I think he'll do fine, since he's already accustomed to sharing the attention with dd! He likes playing with baby dolls sometimes too. We have a neighbor with a small baby, and he asks to visit often...he is interested in the baby, but I think the real attraction is the baby's stuff! He loves to sit in the bouncy seat and lay under the gym, and he is especially fond on her swing...it has a million buttons and switches that turn on lights, play music, and control the rocking. He can't leave it alone...

I am FERVENTLY hoping that ds will be fully potty trained by the time the baby comes. Two in diapers might really put me over the edge in laundry.

My son is 30 months right now. We are not really talking about the baby. I am worried about the transition since he is the cemtre of our world.

I didn't even think about diapers yet! DD is still half and half...some days we use the potty and some days we don't...not a big deal at least for while away!

Dd will be exactly 4 when the baby arrives. She's dying for a new baby and keeps saying, "I wish I had a baby." Haven't told her about this one yet because I had a mc last March and had gotten her hopes up. I want to wait a while with this one.
I'm very happy that she's out of diapers and pretty independent. I'd rather have a sibling that can fetch me diapers than one that's still in them!

My son just turned two in September. We told him about the baby and he is very excited. He understands that there is a little baby growing in Mommy's tummy. He keeps asking for it to come out so he can give it a kiss. Awwww! He is actually quite fascinated with babies so I can't wait to see him with his little brother or sister. Oh and when you ask if he wants a brother or sister (he understands the difference) he just says he wants a baby.

DS told me this morning that there are 3 babies in my belly I know some people say "Kids just know" but I'm REALLY hoping he doesn't "just know"

DS will be 2 in January and is almost potty trained. We have the pees down but not the poops. I'd like him completely trained before this baby too. I don't think I'd like to have two in diapers. Laundry is hard enough. The sad part is that he's weaning himself. I don't know if it's low supply or a different taste, but he's cut out the naptime nurse and only does the am nurse and nighttime nurse sometimes. I love nursing my boy and I'll be sad when he's done. Anyone else's toddler weaning? The other adjustment is seeing that DS is not a baby! He's been my baby but now he's a boy. Even he insists he is not a baby. Too many changes for the horribly emotional preggo me!

my son will be 3 in december, so this will be our biggest gap- my kids have been about 2 1/2 years apart. i've enjoyed having bodhi be "the baby" this long, as i've never had one this age without a baby!

i teach nursery school in my home three mornings a week, so during that time i have 7 toddlers to tend to myself! so there is no lacking of toddlers around here! it turns out that school has been a great distraction, as i am occupied and entertained and doing something i enjoy. they are good company!

ChinaKat & Sally Z, my daughter is the same way! Maybe it's just the age?? DD will NEVER use the stroller or cart, though LOVES to be carried everywhere & at all times. She will walk when we're shopping, but she doesn't often hold hands (at least not consistently), so I get panicky trying to keep up with her (she loves to run, run, run).

I'm already thinking of the slings that I'll be getting for baby #2. DD never liked the sling (loved the snugli though - that, or my arms, never could put her down as an infant either).... this baby won't have a choice - in the sling you go! I'm wondering if a soft backpack carrier (not a hard frame) might be an idea for our DDs??

ksmama,
you have an ergo carrier, right? if not, it's a must for second babies... after the baby is too heavy on your shoulder and back to be in the sling for too long, the ergo is incredibly comfortable! my 3rd was in it all the time and it never hurt me!

My DS sounds a lot like Jilian's. He will be 3 yr 7 mo when baby#2 arrives. I'm not planning to tell him about the pregnancy until around 12 weeks, just in case...

But he LOVES babies! He frequently uses his toy stethoscope to "check" people--women and men--and he'll tell most people (if he likes them!) that they have "a baby in there" or "2 babies in there". Never three yet, though!

He constantly tells my husband that DH has "baby Chappi" and "baby Koodie" in his belly. He just tells me I have a baby in there and he wants to get tweezers to get it out. (He's watched some birth shows with me. He tells me the baby is crying because it wants "special baby milk" or to nurse.

Speaking of that particular little devil, I think I hear him waking up.

I've said this all over the boards today, but:
I just POAS this morning, and I am OVER THE MOON with this BFP!

Willo, I watch birth shows with my DS too. He loves "House of Babies". He gets all excited for the pushing part He tells my sister (who is also pregnant) how she's gonna have to squeeze her baby out, then he'll demonstrate. He's silly!

My son makes 2 in December, so these two will only be 2.5 yrs apart. That's a little closer than I'd like (I like the 3 year gap), but we'll adjust.

Right now my son is the baby and the only boy so you can bet he gets tons of attention. It will be interesting to see how things go once this baby arrives.

i have a toddler too isaac will turn 3 on may 26 and i am due shortly after that. he knows about the baby growing in my tummy and likes to kiss and hit it : he knows that he grew in my tummy so i think he gets it.

i am a little scared about his reaction to losing the spotlight. he loooooves the spotlight

isaac wants to be carried a lot but i hardly carry him any distance anymore. he's about 35 lbs. breaka my back!!!

i'd love it if he were out of diapers by next summer. he pees on the potty sometimes up to 3 times a day at school. sometimes 0. he isn't that interested at home unless he is naked. if i put underwear on him he just pees like it is a diaper. if he is naked he actually remembers to go use the potty. so we are working on it slowly with no pressure. at least we have 9 months!!!
