Making baby clothes - buttons a choking hazard?

Hello, I found these cute sweater and hat patterns online.

I'm almost finished with my first one (the asymetrical baby cardigan). Do you all think these large buttons would pose a choking hazard? Of course I'd sew them on really well. Our first baby is due in the fall, and I'm not sure...

Thanks for giving us the link to those adorable patterns!!

I have knitted my dd a sweater too - I was a little hesitant about the buttons, but I think at this age (she is 4 months) there is less of a concern than later, when she will undoubtedly be trying to eat teh buttons - kwim?

I guess I don't really have an answer for you - just sew 'em on really well!!

I would keep the buttons small, so they'd be just swallowed (and comeout the other end...) if you're truly worried, But sewing them on well should be enough. You;ll probably find that you buy lots of clothes with buttons...and many of them are not sewn on that well. My toddler has never chewed her cuttons much anyhow.
