Dance Songs

I need a little help. What are some good and appropriate dance songs? We are downloading from the Internet for our Girl Scout Dad/Daughter dance and I am in a brain fog. They want some songs theycan swing dance to. I have the Twist and Rockin Robin and that horrible Mickey song from the eighties.
It can be popular music as long as there is nothing about sex or alcohol in the song. Sadly that really limits me.

Any Ideas?

How about 'My Girl' by the Temptations!! Great father-daughter dance song -- it's what my dad and I danced to at my wedding!!


Ooooo...what about the pretty new Paul Simon song that he wrote for his daughter???

I'll try to think of some more!

If you're looking specifically for music to swing dance to, your best bet is probably big band music - Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman are the two that come immediately to mind. Also, Frank Sinatra is good for some toned down swing (if you want to give them some slower, dreamy stuff at some point).

There are also some more modern groups like Big Bad VooDoo Daddy and - the ultimate modern, IMO - Brian Setzer (from Stray Cats). Brian Setzer can be a little "iffy" in terms of sexual content, but his song "Rock This Town" is innocent enough and really fun.

Oh sorry. I didn't read your post carefully. Mine aren't really "swinging" songs.

No that's fine. Last year they were swing dancing to Shanial Twain they aren't fussy. I am just kind of out of it as far as popular music goes so any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the good ideas so far.

Is that song boggie boogie bugle boy from comany b a swing song?? Love shack from b52's is fun... Go Go's vacation or head over heels...Wham wake me up before you go... man I'm drawing a blank. Maybe thre is a swing music website? try a google search. Good luck! Warmly, HeatherE
