okay - i am having trouble tonight because DS has an appt. tomorrow (4mo.) and I am not sure how the pdi is going to react when I tell her I am not vaxing... I know it's not her choice and all the rest.. I have many questions still and have been researching for weeks!!! : but my question right now is this:

DS would be completing the Hep B series and getting more of others...( most of ya'll know which they are)... anyhow heres my concern and I can't find anything that relates -

what, if any, negative could come from my not "completing " the series???

Okay I remembered I had this though as well... can she deny care or anything ? what about my insurance? does it seem liekyl they'll cover ubsequent visits if I spread the choice ones out?
TIA!!!!!

Nothing, the series just wouldn't be considered complete. If you decide to pick back up again later, you just do so from where you left off. No need to start over, according to the CDC and the manufacturers.

Doctors can "fire" you as a patient if you refuse to follow the vaccination schedule. I've not heard of doctors firing patients for simply delaying vaccines, but it happens pretty frequently when you decline all vaccinations. It's no big deal, though. Just find another one. If a doctor can't respect your parenting decisions (because they are YOUR decisions) then you probably wouldn't be comfortable working with that person anyway. Some insurance companies will not pay the price of the office visits if you're spreading out vaccines. They cover well child visits and sick visits, but not "extra" well child visits. Some doctors will allow parents to come in and just get the shots, without an exam, and charge only for the shots and not for the visit. Some insurance companies will pay for the extra visits. You really would have to contact your insurance company to find out.

well the appt went fine with the doc.. I said we weren't vaxing, she said "okay!" so for that issue, we're okay now - we'll see if/when I go back to get the vax staggered out, or whatnot, what happenes with the insurance. we'll most likely be off the one we're with now anyhow so I won't even bother calling.
but thats so much for your reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, you do NOT have to start over. There is info on the CDC site for that.

What if my child misses a dose of vaccine?
They can continue the series where they left off. Vaccinations are not rendered invalid and do not have to be repeated when there is a longer-than-recommended interval between doses in a series.
