We wanted to wait til he was older and slowly vax him except for CP. My DH and I are ready to start vaccinating our son Patrick who is 26 months old. However, I am unsure what schedule to follow. I need a plan when we go to see the ped. They have been really respectful of our choices but don't want to be bombarded with a slew of shots at one time when we finally tell them we are ready. Any suggestions?

Well, if you do a little more research, you'll robably find a couple of other vaxes that you'll want to scratch off your list.
Like rotavirus.
By 26 months, he's almost definitely already had the disease itself, so there's really no point in vaxing for it, is there?
So I'd first go through the list of VPDs and double check to make sure you really want the vaxes, and then start from there. Probably get the vaxes you want the most first.

I agree with mamakay. Ask your doctor what vaccines (s)he says your child "needs", then look up each disease and decide which ones you still think you need to vaccinate for and go from there.

Here is the CDC schedule - if you scroll down, you can see the "catch-up" schedule: http://www.cdc.gov/Nip/recs/child-sc...olor-print.pdf
HIB is not even reccomended after 24 months, so scratch that one. That leaves you with:
HepB - 3 doses
DTaP - 5 doses, but you can only do 4 if the fourth dose is after age 4
IPV - 4 doses, but you can only do 3 if the third does is given after age 4
MMR - 2 doses, but I would request titers instead of a second dose, or even the first dose.
Varicella - 1 dose, but looks like 2 are on the horizon. Another one I would request titers instead of either dose.
Prevnar - only recommended to 23 months, although CDC shows a "catch-up" dose, but probably not something the ped will push.
This might help you get started on making a schedule, knowing that you will probably want to wait for the later doses so that you don't need as many. Then work out how often you want to give them (3 mos?, 6 mos?) and try and make a schedule. If you want to do titers on MMR and Varicella, then wait until right before you are ready to do them. No sense in doing them now if you aren't planning to give them for another two years - he could develop immunity by then.
