Saying goodbye to milk

Well after 15 months of pumping my milk is finally giving up the ghost. I am relieved in some ways to not have the hassle of pumping anymore but I also feel grief about letting go of that connection to my little bean. It is a weird thing to finally say, that's it.

Just thought I'd post here as I am sure there are many who have been through the same thing. It just isn't practical anymore, especially as my milk has dropped to practically nothing. But I still feel sad and can't quite commit to letting go. Sigh.

Thanks for listening xxx

Way to go mama!
I know, pumping is tough. Been doing it for ten months now.

OH my god, FIFTEEN MONTHS of pumping! You deserve a pumping award!!! Good for you! I'm sorry you are sad, but I hope you know you did a fantastic thing, above and beyond what most people would have done. Bravo!

Thanks mama's, that praise is nice to hear. I think I've just reached the end of the road with this part of being a mama. Time to move onto the next phase!

Thankyou for being so lovely!

Sorry to hear that...

I'm sorry to hear that "this is it". I also pump while at work, but get to give my little one milk snacks throughout the night.

Were you interested in trying to beef up your supply before it completely dwindles, or just let that light gently dim? Whenever I have dipped a little due to stress & clogged ducts I took Fenugreek, Alfalfa, & I hear Goat's Rue is also good if you don't mind the possible side effect of becoming slightly larger "up top".

Either way, enjoy these last few feedings...I know your little one loves you for it!

15 months of pumping... what dedication... I really admire you for that!! Many babies don't get the chance you gave yours...

OH MY GOSH!!!: 15 months of pumping!!! Its understandable to be sad at the loss, but think of the time you will free up by no longer pumping- Think of it as the next stage of your relationship, time to try new ways to bond. You could add a new special ritual time with baby (like reading or massage). I completely understand your pain.
