Not that I'm aware of...I have pondered sending a snail mail and even have written down the address...just a "hi and how are you" though...and though I have an address that doesn't garantee a reply or even that they still reside there.

Is anyone on the birthrage e-list through yahoogroups? It just occured to me that she might have posted there since she started the group, but I can't check as I unsubbed a long time ago and it's closed to the public.

I dont know if I am still subb'ed or not, but I can go look.

eta: Oh man, I did unsub too. I think I remember that it seemed there was no life there anymore.

I am a member but haven't read the messages in awhile - if you want me to look for something let me know what.

I'd given up on looking for birthlove after many attempts. I'm sad it's gone too.

OT a bit: I was just reading the quotations about 'post-dates' in this thread. With my last pg, I went 44+2 and had green fluid at birth, darkly, deeply mec. stained placenta and a healthy, strong 10lb3oz baby. I have NEVER taken any narcotic, dope or nicotine (except second-hand when I couldn't get away fast enough and only if I happened to pass someone on the sidewalk) and my last drink was long before I was pg with ds1. I wonder why she assumes that mec. must mean ingestion of those substances?

I lost 5 years worth of journals there...that I had not backed up anywhere else (dumb I know). The tumultuous story of my life from the time I had my heartbreaking c-sec with my 1st daughter to the adopting of my husband's 7 younger siblings from Mexico when my 1st was just 7 weeks old until the pregnancy of my last son...I would give anything to have my journal back.

I'm so sorry.

I know the McCracken's are good people, and wouldn't take their site down suddenly without a good reason. I don't know the circumstances, but I know and trust them enough to know it was necessary.

I miss the site very much, and miss Leilah even more. She was a huge personal help to me when I needed it most. I've not been able to get her at her phone number either.

Whatever has happened I hope they are well and know to contact us if there is anything that we can do to help.

Gloria has stuff posted and has a website. Some of the best articles on Leilah's site were Gloria's, so that is still available.

yeah. i dont think it was intentional and i am sure there is a good reasn but that doesnt lessen the sting of havng it just gone one day.

and all the info on it, all the birthstories, the herbal course, the doula advanced training course...

I'm happy to host anything on my site if anyone has their stuff and would like to see it back on the net.

Here's a listing of the archived pages. I have cable internet and the pages took me a *long* time to load. Hopefully you'll be able to retrieve the information you want.

Good people make selfish and/or poor decisions all the time!

I cannot think of ANY reason of how a good person/company could take my money, along with others, and then drop off the face of the earth without one single word! Not even months and months and months later???

I don't understand the situation at all....

BTW...

I started contacting different women that supported the site. Gloria Lemay, Sarah Buckley, etc., I'm sure someone has to know what happened?

I admit it is a little infuriating - I also paid for a lifetime membership. I bought a membership for someone else too. I don't expect a refund or anything but an explanation would be nice. I wonder if they tried to get someone else to take over the admin first before just deleting the site? I could have hosted it and I am sure many others would have volunteered to moderate the boards, etc.

I also have a lifetime membership and would have glady lent my skills toward the upkeep. I do HTML and web design on the side and it would have been no problem. Like you said, I'm sure other mamas would have felt the same to keep such a resource going...

me too.

Yes! I completely agree...if help was needed I am many of us would have stepped up to the plate!

In many ways it isn't even about the money or the resources....it is the fact she just up and "disappeared" off the face of the earth without so much as a explanation or even an update to let everyone know how she is doing...

It is odd...

Birthlove's never been a site I've visited on a regular basis, BUT I'm cautious about anyone who publishes a list of dos and don'ts on the internet and doesn't quote evidence-based research to justify their recommendations. I didn't like that list of recommendations either, I'm uncomfortable with the implication that postdates women are more likely to struggle with GD or other blood sugar issues. I think that's what turned me off the site back in 98, or 05, or whenever I last saw it.

Has BIRTHLOVE completely gone then? I was just about to send a friend there and couldn't find it but google sent me here...

How very sad.... I too had bought lifetime membership but I guess something must have happened for L to just let it vanish like that.

Huge shame....

Oops sorry... hello ladies!!
