My MIL did the muscle test on me. I have reversed energy according to her, but when she tested me, she was right with my daughter. (We found out via ultrasound with DS, so there was no guessing there.)

Can someone explain what the needle and thread thing is? Is there a website somewhere explaining it? Also, how do you muscle test for the sex of your baby? Anyway, I am not getting an ultrasound either, but I am very curious what the sex of the baby will be.

I had dreams of both sex with #1, I truly had no idea what it was, it was a girl. No dreams this time, and I still don't know. I'll found out soon though.

Here's info on the Pendulum Test:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Pendulum Test
-you need a pendulum object, it can be anything heavier that you put on the end of a string. Thread works the best.
-hold it about 1 inch from your LEFT wrist (underside), and wait for it to start moving
-This is the part most people are mistaken about...It will swing back and forth accross your wrist sideways for a BOY
-and for a GIRL, it will swing up and down your wrist like fingers to elbow (NOT in a circle)
-the circle happens inbetween children, when the pendulum is "thinking"/changing directions and this will happen inbetween EVERY child you will have
-it will stop on its own when it's done
-pendulums and rods has been around for centuries, and has been an incredible tool for many people throughout the years-from finding water, to solving crimes, to predicting # of kids and their genders!
It works because it is feeding off of our own personal energy. Anyway, it's a really cool test, and mine says BBBGGBG! So far it's right, LOL!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I don't know what the muscle test is though.

Oh no! I did it all wrong! I thought you can do it over your belly, while lying on your back, and that it swings in a circle for a girl or a line for a boy! Is there another version of this?! :

The way I do the pendulum test is over the lower belly. That's how it has worked for me.

Muscle testing is a little bit trickier, you might need someone to show you how to do it. You can either do it on yourself or have someone else muscle test you. I don't feel qualified to try to explain it, sorry!

Well the Chinese calendar and the ring test are giving me two different answers. And for the first time, I have no feelings as to the baby's gender. I'll just have to wait...

the pendulum tests i've seen were done on the wrist, and to clarify, it tells you all the children you've had and will have, not just the one currently gestating. So for me it was bbg, my MIL showed bgg, and poor SIL, the pin didn't move a bit!

Interesting, I tried the pendulum test over my wrist and it told me: boy (my two-year-old son), girl (my second pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and I thought it was a girl), boy, boy (now I know I am carrying a boy this time but from doing muscle testing I believe I was carrying twin boys and we lost one early on), and then after this pregnancy I would have another boy, then a girl, then a boy, a girl, a boy, a girl, and then another boy. We do want to have a lot of kids so that makes sense. So if I have no more miscarriages, that would be nine kids! Wow!

BTW, the pendulum never stopped moving at the end, it just kept going in a circle on and on and on . . . so after a while I figured it was done. I will try it again sometime when I have more patience and see if it really was done.

Here's another way. My acupuncturist tested my pulses, and he says it's a girl. That's also my intuition (from before he tested). And last time my midwife tested my pulses, and she said it was a boy. That was also my intuition, and he is indeed a boy. My acupuncurist says that this is more accurate than ultrasound. I think he said it was about 98% accurate , but I can't remember for sure. Two things, though. It needs to be done at the right time during pregnancy, and someone practiced needs to do it (for the most accuracy). Anyway, he says he's only been wrong 2 times, ever.

There was a thread a couple months or so ago about the Chinese calendar predictors, and there were several links posted to different calendars. Every single one says that this baby will be a girl, but every single one also said that ds would be a girl. Needless to say, I don't put much stock in them. And yes, one or two of them went by lunar age.

we used a tarot deck for my son. it said the king of swords. it couldn't have been anymore right!

that's pretty non-invasive.

Okay, so I tied a metal washer on the end of a thread and put it one inch above my left wrist. It swung length wise for a long time then swung across and then it switched back and forth a bunch of times. I wish I knew how to read this better. My first two children were girls, so how do I tell how many girls it is saying? I hope it isn't every two and fro swing, because then I would be having alot of babies! Anyway, how do I tell when it moves from one child to the next? I didn't seem to notice it circling much. Or is there a way? Thanks

Okay, so I tried it again specifically looking for the circling in between, and I think it is saying I will have a boy next. It went up and down my wrist for girl then circled a little, then up and down again for another girl, then circled a little and changed directions to boy! That will be really cool if it turns out to be right. Anyway, thanks for the info!

I think you read it right this time - it sounds like the 'circled a little' movement you saw is when it comes to rest straight down / recenters itself before each next movement. Apparently it will move up and down or side to side depending on how strong the girl or boy 'vibes' (for lack of a better word) are - I'm not sure what that means! So you're right, you don't count each swing of the pendulum, you have to wait for it to clearly pause or recenter straight down, and then start going again.

I am very interested in this. When is the right time during pregnancy to do this?
post #36 of 66
Well, I'm not completely clear about when you can start checking, but it seems that the second trimester is the best time to check. Too early, and the baby's energy isn't strong enough. And I asked him about the third trimester, and he said mostly it's good, but if you check too late in the game you might get it wrong. This happened to me last time. He checked me at 42 1/2 weeks when I went to have him induce me (my first experience with this particular acupuncturist), and he said my pulses said I was having a girl. I told him that I was pretty sure he was wrong, and he said that given how far along I was that he very well might be wrong. When I said that my midwife had checked early on and that she thought I was having a boy, he said that her "reading" was probably more accurate. Anyway, my understanding is that second trimester or earlier in the third are good times.

Hope this works for you! And, you still have time for your intuition to kick in, too. It took awhile this time to have a strong feeling. I just didn't feel as connected to this baby as early as with ds. I think it was because we weren't telling ds until 12 wks., so I just wasn't as able to immerse myself in the pregnancy.

Well, I just did the needle and thread test and it says girl. It swung back and forth in the fingers to elbow direction and then stopped. I still don't know if I beleive it, but what's funny is once it stopped swinging it didn't start up again. DH & I plan on only having one (maybe adopting later) so at least that part is right! Now it's Chinese Chart versus needle and thread!
post #38 of 66
My experience with the pendulum test is that it's VERY accurate. It's so accurate in my circle of fam and friends that my SIL won't do it again because she doesn't want to know right now if she's having more kids and DH has told me I can't do it because he's decided we're done after this one and he doesn't want to know if there will be more to come!

I was skeptical with my last pregnancy when it kept telling me I was pregnant with a boy, so I would have people that didn't know about the test hold the piece of my hair with my wedding ring on it over my wrist. It always did the exact same thing. I wouldn't tell the people what they were doing until after the "results" were in because I didn't want them to subconsciously influence the movement, ykwim?

I am just wondering if you can tell by the pendulum test if you are having twins. Would it show this somehow? Or would it look like two separate children/pregnancies and not indicate they are gestating both at once? Anybody know? Thanks
post #40 of 66
I would wonder that too . . .
