No chicken pox vax for DD if other DC's are vaxed?

My two sons are vaxed. DD just had her 1st birthday, and that is when our ped. recommends the chicken pox vax. Are there any risks involved for ANY of my kids if I choose to NOT have DD get this vaccine?

No. The chickenpox vaccine is pretty ineffective, so your kids might all get chickenpox even if they are vaccinated. If you don't vaccinate her, she could catch the virus and give it to her older siblings, who might not actually be immune. OR, they could catch it and give it to her - even if you do vaccinate her.

Good question- my ds is almost 1, and my older ds (3 3/4) was vaxed. I wasn't planning on vaxing the baby but I wondered what the effect might be for his older brother. I was hoping maybe he'd still get cp dispite being vaxed, and get a more permanent immunity than the vax would provide.

we did delayed with the pox vax and waited till Sophia was 15 mos old. Two weeks after she got the vax she got the pox rash. i had to keep her away from others till it went away. Aidan wont be getting the vax. We will just deal with cp if they come!

Son kicked out of K for no pox vax

I'm in a bind.
I had vaccinated my children, but now don't want to continue.
My 5 yo was just booted form kindergarten b/c I refuse to give him the pox vax. I'm having a hard time getting exempt b/c they have been vaccinated for most.
Has anyone ever succeeded in moving from vax to no vax?

Your previous history is irrelevant, even though the school district may try to claim otherwise. You can have a religious or philosophical change of heart at ANY time. The state gov't doesn't have a right to tell you that you can never develop new religious convictions! In what state do you live?

New York

I'm faced with a $300 lawyer to help me write an acceptable note.
I've never felt so powerless as a mother before.
Stinks.

I put in a letter for religious exemption on Fri. Waiting for the call tomorrow.
In the meantime, I'll try to get him the real pox.
