I need something short and straightforward to give to DH...

I need something short and straightforward to give to DH on the vax issue. We are going to the pedi tomorrow, and I need something to get DH to agree to delay vaxes for a bit while I do more research. I don't need a bunch of links, I just need one good source that is direct and to the point... and quick, please!

which shots are they scheduled to get?

The problem meg, is even if you had one good source, do you think either of you can absorb, think, research and decide in one night?

One night is not enough time to decide something this important. This is YOUR CHILD!!!

If you are not sure, cancel the appointment until you both feel comfortable with the decision.

My dh is still not crazy about the non-vax issue...but when it came to vax or cir, I told him over my dead body. That solved those two problems.

I'm not trying to make the entire decision in one night, I just want to have some concrete info for DH and the pedi to support delaying vaxes while I do the research. I've just barely started looking into the issue and want something simple (but backed up with research) for DH and the pedi.

We have vaxed on schedule up to now, so they were supposed to get whatever shots are on the traditional schedule for 12mos. My main concern is autism. I'm much more afraid of that than any of the diseases the vaxes are inteded to prevent. If anyone has a link that is specific to the autism/vax connection, that might be the best for now.

my husband was a little freaked when I told him I didn't want to vax either. I told him that if he wanted to research it himself, I could give him plenty of sources, otherwise I just said, I'm not going to vax our kids anymore and if you really want to, do some solid research and prove to me that it is safe. He doesn't enjoy reading/researching much, so he yielded to me and that was that. I would leave the ball in his court, tell him you are not asking him to stop vaxing or make a decision right away, you're just asking to delay this round of vax so that you both can do some sound research.

This is us exactly. We started with a selective/delayed schedule, until I freaked out before the MMR and really started researching. DH is against not vaxing and probably thinks I'm undually influenced by this website. I said the same as above: I don't feel comfortable giving dd any more vax, when he researches it enough to have an intelligent discussion with me on the issue, we'll discuss it. And that was the end of that.

It is your right to delay vaccinating. Cancel the appointment if you feel that you'll be pressured into doing it. You won't regret it.

~Mef~ there is nothing "simple" we can give you, because the issue is very complex. It's not something that there can be a simple sheet of 10 easy, convincing points to make someone stop in a quick read. I've been researching for 26 years, and though I made my choice after the first six years, I've still not found the ultimate "convincing" arguments to vaccinate.

So if your husband is so convinced, tell him to provide the proof that your ancestors who weren't vaccinated and lived to a ripe old age, would have lived even longer had they had all the vaccines he wants your child to have.

This is very short and simple, shows babies are dying from SIDS right at the same time they are given 2 then 4 month shots.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome -- United States, 1983-1994

http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00043987.htm

And even in the 2nd group, although the overall SIDS rate went down, the greatest number of deaths were STILL happening in the EXACT same time frame, 2 and 4 months, when babies are getting the first onslaught of shots.

If that doesn't convince anyone to stop and take a better look, I don't know what will.

Hey there,

Hopefully you made it through the appt. vax free. The dr. I told you about won't bug you if your current one is

There's not an easy research study guide. And frankly, it's not worth arguing/discussing with MDs.

We made our decision with numbers- mostly from the CDC and VAERS sites. I researched each disease- how to treat it, chance of death etc. And each vax- reaction types, etc. It turned out to be quite clear-cut.
