I came up with a list of reasons why I am against vaccination, and I want to post it on my myspace page, but am hesitant. I worry that someone will read it and call CPS even though I know I am within the realm of the law. Is that pathetic or what? Either way I will post it here. I was bored, and wanted a nice list. It's long.
Why I am against vaccination...
Here are all the reasons I can think of as to why I am against vaccination:
*The body's immune system is an amazing thing, and has the capability (if left undisturbed) to rid the body of anything foreign and invading.
*Three words: aborted fetal cells. Yup, vaccines contain the cells from aborted fetuses. I am not lying, you can read it right on the manufacturer's package insert under the name "human diploid cells."
*Ingredients in vaccines: Just to name a few...Formaldehyde (yes, as in the fluid they use to embalm corpses), Mercury (it still exists in most of the flu shots they recommend pregnant women and babies get
) Aluminum, Anti-freeze, Antibiotics, MSG (the stuff they took out of chinese food), and lots of other toxic substances I would never want to put in my baby's bloodstream.
*I don't trust the CDC. Their so-called "independent" advisory committees which make the decisions to approve new vaccines and add them to the schedule are not so independent. About 80% of them have ALLOWED conflicts of interest, meaning some of the members hold patents on the same vaccines they are "objectively" voting to approve, and most of them hold stock in the pharmaceutical companies. Basically they stand to make large financial gains should the vaccines get approved. And they always do. Unanimously. Even if a member is not allowed to vote for above said conflict of interest, they are still allowed to give their two cents during a pre-vote consultation.
*The piss poor clinical trials and follow-up safety studies. Most of the clinical trials contain small numbers of participants, and are conducted unethically. For example, "The FDA allowed Merck to use a potentially reactive aluminum containing placebo as a control for most trial participants, rather than a non-reactive saline solution placebo. A reactive placebo can artificially increase the appearance of safety of an experimental drug or vaccine in a clinical trial. Gardasil contains 225 mcg of aluminum and, although aluminum adjuvants have been used in vaccines for decades, they were never tested for safety in clinical trials. Merck and the FDA did not disclose how much aluminum was in the placebo."
*The increase in certain disorders such as Autism, Asthma, and gut problems such as Crohn's disease, etc. Kids were never as sick as they are now, and if a child receives all of the scheduled vaxes, they will have received 74 different doses of vaccines by the age of 5, more if they get the flu shot...we all received somewhere around 7.
*New vaccines keep popping up- it seems like every day there is a new one. I just heard about a vax coming out for ear and sinus infections...I am sorry, but if you breastfeed your baby, they probably won't get many ear infections, and if they do, they go away on their own!
*They give the Hepatitis B Vaccine to all babies on the first day of their life. Except as an incredible money making scheme, please tell me how this makes sense. Unless a mother HAS Hep B (which women are tested for prenatally) HOW on earth would her one-day-old newborn catch it? Unless the baby is injecting heroin or having unprotected sex, I don't think they have anything to worry about. Of everything vaccine, this is the most ridiculous to me.
*The "vaccine-preventable" diseases that everyone is so fearful of are really not as terrible as one may think. Mumps is only potentially serious in boys who have already hit puberty, as it may cause sterility in severe rare cases, and Rubella is only dangerous if a woman caches it for the first time during pregnancy- yet EVERYONE is vaxed for these, because it has been drilled into our heads that they are terrible debilitating diseases, when they are not. Measles and chicken pox are also not the end of the world- you stay home with your child, take care of them properly, and then they are IMMUNE FOR LIFE, naturally and permanently. Which brings me to my next reason...
*Vaccines wear off! If you get the Varicella vaccine, for example, you might have some immunity for childhood, but unless you keep on getting boosters (and they are actually effective, which is a crapshoot) they wear off by the time you are an adult, and then when you get the chickenpox, it is more severe. Natural immunity does not wear off.
*The vaccines for meningitis only cover certain strains, so you are not protected unless you happen to catch the particular strain the vax covered (and it works) (We never had this vax, and nobody was afraid of it back then)
*Vaccines do not always work! In some cases, they give you the disease, but it is not the natural form of it. The only cases of polio in the US in recent decades were from the vaccine. And I do not believe that vaccines are primarily responsible for the eradication of all of these diseases. If you look at graphs and statistics that were not manipulated, you can see that all of the diseases were already on the decline. (They don't show you the declining numbers before the vaccine came out, they start the graph at the year the vax came out, and you see the numbers drop, so it is basically a play on numbers).
*The number of reported adverse reactions to vaccines outweigh the number of reported vaccine preventable diseases. This is stated on the CDC website. And approximately only 10% of adverse reactions are actually reported.
*Vaccines are all about money- shocker! I am way more afraid of subjecting my child to a vaccine which contains known toxins than I am of her getting a VPD. That is what it comes down to. Once people can't make you fear something, they can't sell you something. And that is what it is about: MONEY. When vaccines become non-profit, I bet they would have our children's best interests at heart, until then, Ava won't be getting any.
Of all my parenting decisions, this one was the hardest to make...I literally did hundreds of hours of research, and most of the information that swayed my opinion came directly from the CDC and manufacturer's package inserts- all legit information, not wacky heresay from anti-vax sites. It is amazing what you can find out if you just look. It is difficult to make a decision that goes against everything you have heard your entire life. Of course I hope Ava never gets a VPD, but if she does, I could live with myself. If she became autistic or had a reaction to a vaccine, I could not. Our pediatrician is supportive of our decision, although she is pro-vax, and luckily PA has a lenient exemption for school entry. I guess for me, I can sleep easy at night knowing I made this informed decision with my baby's best interest at heart.
If anyone wants any links to anything I have stated above let me know, I would be happy to provide them.
