What is in a vaccine?

Anything besides a supposedly dead form of the disease? This is my limited knowledge.

Yeah, lots. To start with, the disease form may not be dead. There are live vaccines and dead vaccines.
As a vague rule of thumb, besides the antigens, there would be medium tissues, stabilisers, adjuvants, antibiotics, preservatives, etc. A package insert for each vaccine gives the exact info on how much of what should you expect to find in each dose.

And in the 'live' vaccines you're going to get animal fluids...like "fetal bovine serum"...which have a long history of bringing animal viruses in with them, too.
And the attenuation process by which the viruses you're wanting to be vaxed for weaken the virus don't weaken the stow-away contaminant viruses, either.
