At what point would you give up on home remedies and get antibiotics?
I did when my fever was 103.2 AFTER taking both tylenol and motrin and I felt like a truck ran over my head. I was to the point where I was going to be physically unable to care for my dd if I didn't do something to feel better. (I have no help during the day) I also had a huge lump in my breast. I felt better within hours of taking the antibiotics, and my fever was then around 101, which was much more comfortable for me. The lump took about a week to go away , but I felt great after 3 days of antibiotics. I took antibiotics (Levaquin) for 7 days.

I should have not waited so long to get the antibiotics. My supply dropped from 75 oz a day to 45 oz a day, and never recovered. This was 3.5 months ago. (I am an EPer so I know how much I produce) I would call for antibiotics immediatly if I got mastitis again, since I do not want my supply to drop anymore.

But only you know how terrible you feel. Some people can recover without any interventions.
