CAn you recommend some age appropriate crafts for kisd to do at DD's bday aprty?: She will turn 4 and the youngest guest is 2.5 the oldest is 8. There will only be about 5 kids altogether. Not including babies

My dd had a princess party for her fourth birthday.

We made beaded neclaces with pretty sparkly beads. I assigned a mommy to that craft.

Then we borrowed a creepy crawler maker (makes rubber bugs) I assinged Daddy to that one.

They decorated cookies.

The girls made a TuTu skirt. The boys made a sword and sheild.

We do real simple parties but at my son's 4th Bday I got some of that Funky Foam stuff. I precut them into the shape of a picture frame and then also bought the ones that come in assorted shapes. The kids just glued the shapes onto the frame.
As each kid arrived at the party I took a digital photo of them with the birthday boy. Then as everyone was eating cake, Dh printed out all the photos. Then Dh glued them each into the appropriate frame and the kids took that home as their favor.
We took one photo of the whole group for Ds' frame.
That kind of knocked out the craft and the favor at the same time
It was age appropriate for my 3 yo as well. Though the oldest we had was 5, she did seem to enjoy it.

painting those wooden boxes that you can get from Michael's or AC Moore or JoAnn or one of those crafty places is always a big hit at the parties we go to. they come in lots of different shapes and you can get glittery "jewels" to put on or in 'em (jewelry boxes, or treasure chests). i think a little one could have fun and an 8 year old since you could make it as fancy as you wanted.

The Family and Consumer Science teacher gave me this easy, cute, and cheap idea. If you get the clear plastic 4 or so ounce juice/wine cups the kids can color them with permanent marker. Then you bake them for 5 minutes and they flatten, at that time you make a small hole in it and string a ribbon through. They can be used as sun catchers or ornaments.

After typing this out I realized that you definately need to know what is in the plastic before you bake it with a house full of kids!

I recently made these http://jas.familyfun.go.com/crafts?p...&craftid=10430 with quite a mixed group (the oldest was 10 and the youngest 2). I got a big tub of foam stickers and some of the older children (7 +) cut out thier own designs form sheets of foam and used double sided tape to stick them on.

It did take quite a lot of adult supervision wiht the hold punch to make hols for the ribbons though so you may want to do that before hand, we also used double sided tape rather than the suggested lacing.
