calling all delayed vaxers

Last night I got to thinking - If I were to delay the vaxes to 2 years (as seems to be the "magic number") how hard is that on the little one?? as far as fear & remembering what happenes at the docs office goes??? I get the babies being shot up with the stuff is pretty ugly but I just imagined my little guy at 2 having a H*** of a time going into the docs office time after time....

so - if you've delayed -

to what age & why (if I may ask : )

did you have trouble getting your pixie into the office for follow up vax's?

did your kiddo experience any of the "normal" reactions?
thats' all I have for now!

super big thanks in advance!!!!!

Well I delayed the MMR/CP until my son was 3 yrs old then we got the singles measles. He cried when they gave him the shot but he only cried a second and then was fine. I just loved on him a lot that day cuz I felt bad, but I think he'd pretty much forgotten about it 5 mins later.

I delayed shots w/ all 3 of mine... We just finished their last set last year when they were 7, 8 & 9 y/o
I didn't tell them we were going back until we where going, my middle one is dramatic- I honestly don't think the others wouldn't care, but he works himself up in dread and then it is "horrible". But it has never bothered them to see the dr. for other things. It might be because the shots are given in a different area/waiting room & everything. But they have no fear of drs.
I promised them ice cream after every visit-- but then within a couple minutes of the shots they seemed to forget they had them and didn't really need the "extra" attention. They got some cool books out of the deal and they were happy w/ that.
I had my oldest vax done w/ the first set at 2 months and it was such a horrible day, he wouldn't nurse, cried every time he was up, feverish, didn't want to be touched, etc. It was horrible. Then when they were older and I did all the other shots- there was very little reaction- even though it was the same shots. It was a mild fever in the area of one of the shots and some soreness.
Now that I'm pregnant again, I am definitely delaying them again with this one.

My guys ask if they're getting a shot, but since it's usually no they're OK. when it is yes, they're actually pretty calm and I just give them a lollipop afterwards (but shh! don't tell their dentist! LOL)

My ds is just 14 months, so I can't answer your question, but I've wondered the same thing. We are delaying and will then be selective, but I imagine it might end up being several visits to the doctor spaced out over a few years. I don't want him to dread going, either.

Subbing so I can read more responses.
