dairy free question

My DD has been drinking raw milk since she weaned during my last pregnancy. She was recently diagnosed with autism, and as she is already gluten free, we are undertaking removing all casein. I absolutely do NOT want to pump her full of soy milk, but i'm looking for my best alternative milk that would provide her with plenty of fat and protein. Almond milk is my first instinct, but I also don't want to cause an allergy by focusing on one type. Any suggestions from the W.A.P. crowd?

Coconut milk ... you can dilute it with water to the desired consistency. It has all the good fat in it for her and isn't "wasted" calories like most "milks" out there. (From what I know, almond milk, rice milk, and the like really serve no nutritional value, and I'd agree with not doing the soy.)

How old is she? If she eats a decent amount of meat or eggs, I don't think you have much to worry about. If she's willing, you could make her smoothies with coconut milk, raw egg yolks and CLO.

We are GFCF amongst other things. We don't ever drink milk, and use different types for different things. Coconut milk, almond milk and hazelnut milk are our top three. They serve different purposes. I make yogurt out of both almond and coconut. In savory recipes-always coconut, in shakes/smoothies I use any of the three. It hasn't been a terrible undertaking to find good substitutes.

She's turning two this week.

I've got a lot to learn. I'm THRILLED to hear you can make yogurt! I thought my only options were dairy or soy. If anyone has any resources, please point me in the right direction.

Has anyone found coconut milk that either 1) isn't in aluminum, or 2) doesn't have preservatives? Or do you make it yourself?

Thank you everyone for the pointers!
