TMI, but need to ask

Any one having issues with hemorrhoids? If so, what are you doing about them?

Not in your ddc, but saw this on new posts. I had them after dd was born (never before) & it was awful. I used witch hazel on a cotton pad & left it there for a little bit, no extra time on the toilet (it's the support of the seat & how your bum isn't supported) and not straining when having a bm.

Can't remember what else I did off the top of my head, but I'll post more if I think of it.

Not having them this time around but did with #1. I used tucks pads, then made my own spray with a little water, witch hazel, and peppermint oil, and sprayed that on whenever. Earth Mama Angel Baby makes a nice spray and a nice cream as well.

Just had to answer...

Ice them! Place one large piece of ice in a baggy and leave on for 10-15 minutes at a time, 3 times a day. Ice reduces inflammation in tissues. For added benefit, place a witch hazel soaked wipe around the baggy.

Good luck!

I second the ice and witch hazel for relief and shrinking!

I ended up taking lactulose and senna from the doctor because I hadn't had a bm for five days - 2 days labour and three days after. None of the things I had done with diet and fluid intake were making any difference and I was in pain. Once I did start having bm (what a relief) each time I sat over the edge of the bath and showered my bum with the shower on cold and washed as carefully as I could.

I hope you get some relief soon, its miserable.

Happy to say, it was miserable. Things have definitely calmed down. Thanks for the suggestions! I stopped the prenatals that were the culprit.
