I tired the chloe toes pattern, and I've had 2 needles break already.
The thread tangles up on the bottom, and I'm afaid to continue sewing because I will break another needle.

I don't know about the thread tangling, but I use a size 14 needle and I've never had one break.

It sounds like the timing on your machine is off. Have you tried sewing on something else to see if it's still knotting up on the bottom. Also, you might need to try a ball point needle if you're working with PUL.

I can sew on regular cotton, and fleece just fine. Do I have to change the metal thing that the needle goes in and out of? (sorry. i don't know what it's called). It's a pretty good machine. It's probably my poor sewing skills.

A size 11 needle is good for doing lingerie and stuff, but it really isn't big enough to sew through all those layers. I would use a ballpoint in a bigger size (think I have a 14 in now).

Also check that your bobbin is going the right way.

i had a problem like this and it drove me crazy! my bobbin thread would get all junked up and sucked down into the machine. i about threw the machine.....
it turned out that i was sewing so fast i guess, the thread kept coming out of the thing that moves up and down. i dont know what its called but its the last part of threading the machine before the thread is pulled down and into the needle. i think its something to do with the tention. a freind helped to figure it out and i felt sooo dumb! been great ever since and now its the first thing i check
