GIRL!!!!!! I had the most awesome homebirth waterbirth this morning! She's 7 lbs 13 oz and is 21" long. No name yet, we're still trying to figure if the name we picked for her fits her. She is really happy and nursing great! Everything turned out perfect, really beautiful. She got right into a head down position, like I always knew in my heart she would. I will post the story soon with pictures & name but heres a taste of what happened. I never was able to sleep last night since I went into more active labor at midnight. My DD was born gently and peacefully in the water with the rain pattering outside at 5:05 AM. All my kids woke up and came to greet her starting at 5:15 AM. Then the 4 that go to school caught the bus at 7:15 and we caught a little shut eye here and there thru the day. We made 2 placenta prints, one came out looking really cool, just like a tree. We'll have to frame that with a picture of the tree we'll plant over it in the spring. My kids ped came to the house to visit me and was really disappointed that she wasn't there for the birth. We never thought she'd actually want to be woken up at 4 am to come over, go figure. She's really supportive of homebirth and was really impressed by the midwives and how peaceful everything was with the new baby and how great I was feeling. BTW, I feel so great, just bouncing right back to feeling lots of strength and I can't believe how great it is to recuperate at home, with my loving family around me and my comfy bed to sleep in. Also, tandem nursing is going smooth for my new DD and my 14 month old. I was able to nurse both at the same time when Yakira got a little jealous and wanted her share.
