Bath time

My baby loves bath time, how bout yours? We both get in the tub together (she doesn't mind it warm, I like pretty warm baths and apparently she does also) and pour in Burt's Bees Apircot Oil, then I sorta hold her up by her head and let her float at my side (we have a tiny tub, but I kinda fold up and it leaves a pocket that's great for her). She loves it! At first she kind of stretches out and wiggles a bit, then she quickly gets all relaxed and will just lay there and look around, then eventually she'll fall asleep. I'll wash her off and let her lay there for a while, then wrap her in a towel, nurse her to sleep, and lay her down on another towel on the floor while I do my hair washing, shaving, etc. It's overall a super relaxing experience for both of us. Anyway, we enjoy it so much I was wondering if ya'all did also.

my dd enjoys it i think. its part of our nighttime routine to help her calm down and feel better. she doesn't go to sleep and when she gets "antsy" she will start fussing and moving around a lot more, sucking on her hands and such and thats when its time to get out and let her cool down and feed her. then she goes to sleep SOOOOO much better at night! i am kinda sick of baths at night (shower in the morning) as i was never much of a bath person but it helps her and overall helps me so we will continue for at least another month and see how things are!

My DD HATED baths but loved showers. DS loves baths but hates showers. He was so relaxed when I put him in the tub the first time yesterday, he just floated around in there, so happy! I wondered if maybe he associates it with his birth at all, because we sat in the tub a long time afterward just together.

Isa loves her bathtime... and so do I. We put her in the bath when she was a few days old because we heard taht supposidely it would remind a tiny baby (less than 2 wks?) of being in the womb and that they would mimmick their posture in the womb when placed in warm water. There is supposidely some name for this reflex. We tried it out and sure enough, her demeanor completely changed as if she was relaxing into some very, very calm place.

Now that she's a little older (almost 8 weeks) it's more of a playtime/alert time when she is certainly relaxed but also taking it all in. As soon as she is out and dry and dressed for bed though she usually falls into a great sleep. Love it!

About the shower... how do you pull that off? Do you keep them out of direct spray? Out of their eyes? I wanna try it but I am a little intimidated and nervous about holding a slippery baby and having her not like it. Suggestions anyone?

I'll admit... This is my third child and I've never bathed a baby under 9 months. :

It's always been daddy's job.

Lily loves bathtime as well, but we haven't gotten into the big tub yet. DH bathes the wee ones, I can't seem to get the hang of slippery babes in a big tub . I am a bit nervous about bathing the girls together, since Piper can be a bit of a spaz in the bathtub, and Lily is her most favorite person ever and she is always getting in her space. We will have to try it soon though, Lily is too big for her baby tub.

so far felix has not liked bath time AT ALL!!!!:
i guess i assumed he would (cuz he was in fluid in the womb and we had a nice water birth) and it upsets me that he dislikes it so much! he's really such a mellow happy alert baby otherwise, but he really cries and screams at diaper changing time and bath time i had only tried the little baby bathtub so far, so i took some of you mama's leads and took a bath with him tonight. started with the positive attitude that my presense with him in the tub and the fact that he could have more of his body in the water would make him enjoy it but man o man he screamed and screamed!!! i know the water wasnt too hot or too cold. he started out just slightly upset before the full fledged screams came in ... i dont know what to do other than wait for him to hopefully grow out of this? he's so mad afterwards that i cant even give him a nice massage. of course as soon as i got him dry and got clothes on him, he fell immediately asleep and he looks so angelic and peaceful in my lap right now:

Well, the one time I've taken a bath with Alden he loved it. So calm and relaxed, and it was SO adorable the way his little body just floated when I was holding his head and upper back

I had given him a couple of sponge baths, and one time I put him in the big tub with DD and DS (I had planned on getting in with them too, but just as I was getting ready to, MIL stopped by unexpectedly), and he didn't like that at all...I think the water may have been too warm for him.

I should've taken one with him last night, he was really fussy and just couldn't get settled, but I was so tired I didn't think it would be safe for me to get into a warm bath while responsible for a tiny baby

Baby *loves* her bathtime...as do I. We get in the tub together and I think she would be content in their all night. (She gets that from her mama.) I am really looking forward to family baths with her brother- such fun!

We love the tub time. It totally relaxes her. I had done it a few times with my other dc but hadn't with her. She ate it right up and then slept 4 hours. The next night we tried again thinking that she would do the same, but no such luck. Up every 1.5-2 hours to nurse. Then last night, we tried again, and she exploded poop in the tub, in my lap!
For those of you brave souls doing EC, I admire you! She gave absolutely no warning!
