We have raw milk!!!!

WOO HOO!!! UPS left a very heavy box on my porch today - 5 gallons of OP raw milk!!! We mixed some right away with TJ's organic/fair trade cocoa and bananas ... I have missed my milk. As soon as it gets really cold in the fridge, I plan on pouring a big plain glass of it. I am so happy. We plan on starting a buyers club so we don't have to have it shipped, but even with it over-nighted with UPS, it works out the same price had we bought it at our local HFS ($6/half gallon). WOO HOO!!!

We are in CA - we only have two sources out here - Organic Pastures and Claravale Farms. From what I've heard, people seem to like one or the other. We don't like Claravale Farms - we don't like that they are grain fed. We love Organic Pastures on the other hand. Our HFS is the cheapest in-store price; once we start our buyer's club, it'll go down to $4/half gallon with no shipping charges.

I'm paying $8 a gallon from a local farmer. $6 sounds good.

: I just paid $5/gal for our raw milk and apparently that's with a price increase just recently. I must admit I felt a little bit like I was stealing it from them cuz it's worth so much more than that!

Soooo creamy...

Happy raw milk day, MyLittleWonders!

I called my hfs this morning, right when they opened the box. I brought the cooler to the store with me so by the time I was home the milk was cold!
Mylittlewonders can you tell me about the buying club you mentioned? I am curently paying $5.99/half gal. at the hfs (which is a dollar cheeper than henry's/wild oats)

We have always had our local HFS keep about 2 gallons of OP in the back when they got their shipments incase we didn't make it in on Saturdays. We haven't told them yet that we are getting it direct, so we just got the call that our milk is in. Dh was like, we're buying it, right? Of course I said ... all the more to drink!

Yum! I live about 30 minutes from OP I really like everyone that works at that farm. We toured it about a year ago, and the owner came out and answered all of our questions. Have you tried their raw cheddar? It is delicious. If you call them directly they can sell you the ends at a cheaper price...they're just irregular in size/shape. I need to drive down there and stock up! Get their choco milk if you haven't already, that stuff is sinful

We love the Chocoleche and once we start ordering direct (once we get a buyers club set-up), we plan on getting some each week. There cheese is really good too, and dh will drink their Quephor straight and goes through it very quickly. We love them ... they invited us to stay at their house when we went up for the press conference. They are just a very nice family; we wished we lived closer.

I live in Long Beach and I actually like Claravale milk because it is glass bottles and I had some freshness issues with OP but I did not know Claravale cows were grain fed. I thought they were grass fed I would love to get in on the buyers club for OP. I live in Cal Heights. My little wonders are you talking about Vitamin City?

Yea ... we love Vitamin City. We shop there or TJ's almost exclusively (we also like to go down to the Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings). I'm going to email the order's desk at OP tomorrow (I need to get my mom's fax number before then) and ask them to fax me the info. I have a couple of my friends also interested, so I'd love to get this started.
