difficult to make waldorf doll?

Thread Starter
I don't really sew, but I would love to give my dd a waldorf doll as a special gift when dc#2 arrives and really can't afford to buy one... how difficult is it, and, because I am not a sewer, how many hours might it take? Would you even reccommend trying to make one without much sewing experience? And alternately, if any of you know of any resources of where I might purchase a similar type doll for less than what waldorf dolls cost, I'd appreciate that info also! Thanks.

It's not too difficult to do, even for a beginner and your child will LOVE the doll regardless of how it looks to you! Some Waldorf dollmaking suppliers also sell premade parts such as premade heads, presewn bodies and premade wigs, so it is foolproof but all of this adds to the cost. Amy Prentiss at www.dancingraindolls.com is so nice and helpful and can coach you through any part of the process. She also carries all the best quality supplies. I love wool doll making and find it addictive!!

If you are still unsure of making it yourself, there are a lot of very reasonably priced Waldorf dolls on Ebay. Some are second hand but very gently used. It is worth checking out.

I'd recommend Joy from www.joyswaldorfdolls.com
She has premade heads, presewn bodies and premade wigs. From personal experience she is very nice and SO helpful.
