Help! I think it's a tooth!

She's chewing!! I can't believe it...the pediatrician asked us on Tuesday if she was, and me and dh were both like, nah, nope, no chewing. And the VERY NEXT DAY, there she goes, chewing on my finger and on my nippies when she nurses. At 9 weeks!
I think I see two tiny white dots on her upper gum, but only on one side. She is loving her hands in her mouth a lot, and drooling quite a bit, and seems to be very into comfort nursing the past 2 days.
So, experienced mamas...is a tooth imminent? It seems waaaayyyy too early!
Can you tell me what it was like for your babes?
Are the teeth supposed to come in symetrically? What else should I expect?

those white spots on the gums aren't teeth and they are normal. I read it in Dr. Sears "BABY BOOK." but I can't quote it because I already returned it to the library.

real teeth will come in front and center first, and baby may be irritable, nurse even MORE than the whole lot that she already did, and drool like a leaky faucet.

It's not too early for teething, but those little white spots aren't usually teeth. If it's teeth that are visible, they'd be long and straight just under the gums. Or sometimes part of a tooth actually breaks through but doesn't come all the way in for a while. I forget what those white dots are, but they're not teeth.
USUALLY the bottom front teeth come first, then the top front, then the next two on the bottom, etc. But like anything in life, babies can have their own schedules for teeth too, and there was a baby in a playgroup with my first son who looked like a little vampire since the second set of teeth on the top were his first to come in! LOL.
