Well ds(32 months) is becoming REALLY bossy lately. Get off mommy! Go here mommy! Do this mommy! Drink now mommy! you get the picture: How do you handle this behaviour?? I am trying to understand his age and need to feel independant but also it is driving me batty and this is a new thing starting about 2 weeks ago. I need help!

"I'm sorry, I can't hear you when you don't speak politely. If you want me to do something, please say 'Mommy, will you come here, please'?"

That's how I would handle it. I wouldn't expect the tone to be polite, but the words definitely can be, and I would make certain that I was modeling polite words as well.

Maybe he is venting a little. Even though we have to guide them kids get tired of being told what to do sometimes. My DS and I will play a game of pretend and I am the kid and he is the "mommy" and he loves this game. I think it is a fun way for him to vent some frustration and a great reminder on how it feels to be given a bunch of commands. It is helpful to keep in mind how many things we do ask or tell them to do in a day, not to say that we do too much, just to give it some perspective.
